On June 23, the Arbites DLC for the co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be released. Fatshark is releasing premium content for the game for the first time. MeinMMO provides you with all the info on the new content.
The key information about the DLC summarized:
- The Arbites DLC will be released on June 23 at 16:00 German time for all platforms (Steam, Game Pass, Xbox, PS5).
- You can find the DLC directly in your platform’s shop. The standard edition costs 11.99 euros, the deluxe edition 18.99 euros.
- Along with the DLC, the free update “Battle for Tertium” will be released, which will make the entry into the game much easier. Nothing is known about a server downtime yet, but some features will not be available for a short time.
What does the DLC include? For 12 euros you will receive the new Arbitrator class. Arbitrators are essentially the police from Warhammer 40,000 and come with appropriate equipment: shock batons, shields, and a cyber dog as a companion.
Additionally, Arbitrators use shotguns, grenades, buffs, and especially group control. Your role in a group is primarily to tank, stun enemies, and protect your group. Unlike the Ogryn, you are not just a meat shield; you use abilities to control enemies. If you purchase the deluxe edition, you will also receive:
- a unique outfit for you that vaguely resembles the sci-fi version of a hoplite
- a fully mechanized skin for your cyber dog
- a portrait frame
- 4 weapon skins for the Arbites shock baton, the Arbites shotgun, the pistol, and the shield
The DLC class is fully compatible with all other content in the game. You do not need to own the DLC to play with other players, and there are no content pieces that you can only see with the DLC – except for the new class.
Everything new on the Mourningstar
The free update, which will be released at the same time, is likely to be more interesting for many players. Many important game features are getting an overhaul aimed at making the entry easier and the story more understandable. The free update is the real star of the DLC.
The main new feature is a campaign. Instead of playing missions loosely, you now have the opportunity to complete multiple missions linearly with cinematics and “debriefings” after the assignments. This will give you more story about the characters and the Mourningstar, the void ship from which you start. Players with characters above level 10 can skip the campaign if they wish.
During the campaign, you will unlock new features gradually embedded into the story, rather than unlocking everything through levels as before. The missions themselves have also been revised:
- All missions now have all difficulties available for selection, giving you more missions to choose from
- You unlock higher difficulties by mastering lower difficulties (i.e., winning often enough) – defeats slightly reset your progress
- In the Mortis Trials, there are a few hidden messages that explain backgrounds about the ship and the shipmistress Sefoni
Additionally, there are plenty of balance changes. You can find the complete patch notes on balance on the official website or here on page 2.
With the new update “Battle for Tertium,” Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will become even better for newcomers and bring exciting new features even for veterans. If you want to check out the game, now is the ideal time – even if you are not familiar with the world at all. Because Darktide is one of the best games to get into the world of Warhammer.
