Something is happening again in the loot shooter Warframe. The large fan convention TennoCon is taking place again, although only digitally in 2020 due to the Corona plague. Nevertheless, there will be a lot of news, including information about the next expansion “Heart of Deimos” and the new community Warframe.
What is the upcoming expansion about? The upcoming expansion of Warframe is called “Heart of Deimos”. This announcement came as a complete surprise to the community. In a small teaser, you can see a chamber decorated with typical Orokin ornaments, accompanied by the corresponding soundtrack theme. There is also a kind of sealed portal that slowly opens.
The whole scene is repeatedly interrupted by disturbing film snippets in which Warframes fight against the disgusting mutants of the “Infestation”. You can even see completely new versions of these hideous, repulsive creatures. In the end, there is only a kind of pit from which a grotesquely entwined, organic structure is protruding.
During the film, the words “The beating heart of Deimos …. grows louder” are displayed. In English, the words “grows louder” are used, which is a normal expression. However, in the context of the teaser, it sounds like a play on words. The “heart” is growing and encroaching.
Mars’ moon as a new location?
What is Deimos? Deimos is the 2nd moon of the planet Mars. Mars and its first moon Phobos have been playable planets in Warframe since the early days, and it seems that the decayed clones of the Grineer have settled there.
Deimos has not been found in the game so far, but it is possible that the Mars moon was hidden in a similar way to how Earth’s moon was in the game until a certain point in the Warframe story. Since there is presumably a huge, living heart beating on Deimos and it is swarming with highly dangerous Infestation monsters, a radical quarantine of the celestial body even makes sense.
If Deimos is to become the new location for a Warframe update, then you can look forward to a huge area full of new things, because it is rather unlikely that Digital Extremes will only present a few new missions in the Orokin tileset at TennoCon.
Is horror coming as a theme? Deimos means “terror” in ancient Greek. Along with Phobos (fear), after which another Mars moon is named, the two mythological figures represent the sons of the war god Ares (Mars). Since the moon literally means “terror”, brutal shock moments and intense horror are likely to dominate the new setting.
It is believed that the moon is actually just a larger asteroid that Mars absorbed long ago with its gravity. In a way, a space potato snack for in between. In Warframe, however, the potato seems to have a rotten core.
The worst monsters in Warframe are coming back
This is why it will be pure horror: For me, Jürgen Horn, the new expansion is apparently going to be a hell ride. Because I find the Infested simply disgusting and terrible. The whole design of these grotesque mutants and their horrifying backstory is pure horror for me.
I would much rather fight against Grineer and Corpus. I can shoot them in peace or slice them up in close combat. They come in manageable and well-portioned groups. They are somehow human, and you can identify with them, even if I lay them low in droves and hack them to pieces.
In contrast, the Infested are grotesquely deformed monstrosities. They dwell in disgusting wrecks in space overgrown with contaminated biomass. Often, they have completely overgrown the beautiful Orokin architecture and corrupted it to the core. The entire environment is hostile and repulsive. Everywhere, there are sticky, fleshy things that pulsate and occasionally emit spores that then fly around the map.
And then these horrible monsters always come in absurd hordes and swarm over me. I can barely swat the pests away fast enough as new monsters overwhelm me. Every reload pause becomes a nightmare when, despite the continuous fire, the enemy onslaught hardly thins out and suddenly the magazine only makes a “click”.
And then there’s this terrible Juggernaut creature that is almost invulnerable and once chased me endlessly through a map. I had run out of ammunition and was really panicking because I didn’t want to lose my loot! Just barely, I managed to escape back then. I never want to experience something like that again!
But somehow I have the suspicion that there are much worse monsters lurking on Deimos. The name Deimos seems to be fitting.
TennoCon 2020 attracts with free Prime Warframe
When is TennoCon 2020? More information about the Deimos expansion and other news about Warframe will be available on August 1, 2020, at the digital TennoCon. This will take place entirely digitally due to the Corona crisis, and you can watch it on Twitch. As usual, “Space Mom” Rebecca Ford will be there again. The events of the Con will take place at the following times:

How do I get the Prime Frame? In addition to numerous cool information and presentations, there’s also something tangible to get. Viewers have the chance to receive a reward in the form of a Hydroid Prime Warframe and an Athodai hand cannon. How exactly you get these is still unclear. In the past, it was enough to watch the stream for 30 minutes to receive the items as Twitch drops.
What else will be at TennoCon 2020? Along with the major Deimos expansion, the long-awaited “Broken Frame” is finally set to be shown and even played at TennoCon 2020. This new Warframe was created by fans in the context of a community competition and has now been finally implemented into the game. It is a Warframe that looks a bit battered but certainly has a lot to offer.

At the last TennoCon, the new spaceships were introduced with the Empyrean expansion. They were a completely new feature at that time that massively expanded the game. Additionally, a kind of “soft reset” was made possible. New players could specifically jump in here and find it easier to get into the notoriously complex and incomprehensible game Warframe.
