In Warframe, the “Sands of Inaros” update is available today for consoles PS4 and Xbox One. What to expect, you can read below.
PS4 and Xbox One space ninjas have been aimlessly floating through space for weeks and have felt abandoned and neglected by their beloved Lotus. However, Update 18.5 for console Tenno is now here, bringing both technical improvements and gameplay changes along with new additions.
New Quest with “Character”
The main focus of the “Sands of Inaros” update is the new Warframe Inaros and the quest through which you can obtain him. To start this, you need to pay a visit to the extravagant silver-haired Baro Ki’Teer. With him, you can acquire the new quest for some ducats and credits and dive deeper into the story of the online shooter Warframe.
Thematically and stylistically, we travel to ancient Egypt. Here we also encounter new enemies, the cat-like Kavats and their masters. After completing your short trip, you’ll have an ancient mummy in your possession, whose abilities are dry as follows:
- Desiccate – Destroys enemies with a cursed sandwave that blinds them and drains their health.
- Devour – Lets enemies sink into quicksand to trap and devour them. Also drains health and creates a friendly sand shadow that fights for you.
- Sandstorm – Sweeps away or devours enemies who are caught in quicksand with a swirling sand spiral.
- Scarabs Swarm – Converts health into hardened Scarab armor. Enemies can be swept away by a swarm of scarabs. The survivors use their own life force to heal allies.
If you’re more in the mood for hot desert action than dry reading, we also have everything in a quick image sequence:
The special thing about Inaros is that he is the only character without a protective shield and therefore must drain the life from enemies to avoid ending up in his sarcophagus.
New Weapons – and quite a lot of them
Since PC players receive new weapon additions repeatedly between larger updates, which become available for console players later, a lot has accumulated that now needs to be built and tested. To keep it short, here’s an overview of the new toys:
Additionally, there’s the semi-automatic sniper “Vulkar Wraith”, which will soon be obtainable through Operation Shadow Debt, as well as the three weapons Dex Sybaris, Dex Dakra, and Dex Furis, which were gifted to players for the 3rd Warframe anniversary.
Reactor Sabotage 2.0
So much for the brightly deadly part of the update. But that’s not all.
The Sabotage mode on Grineer and Corpus spaceships has undergone significant changes and now features 4 new rooms each. Additionally, new mechanics come into play that can drop the surrounding temperature below freezing point depending on the player’s choices.
More Moon Missions Make You Cheerful
Furthermore, three more moon missions are waiting to be played by you. These include defense, capture, and espionage.
In the latter mode, you even make time jumps and switch between intact and decayed environments. Additionally, your parkour skills will be put to the test.
In total, there are 20 new moon environments to admire and explore.
Fashion Frame
But there are also some things for the fashion fanatics among the space ninjas to spruce up for spring.
These include the two syandanas Abrasys and Celestia, the Porta armor set, and a new color palette. Additionally, the fleet of ships is expanded with the Xiphos, which can provide a small turret during missions.
Ultimately, the Strega skin for Trinity also makes its way to consoles.
Technical Changes
The most important aspect of the technical and graphical improvement of the game concerns the direct and indirect lighting. This technical aspect alone will account for over 4 GB of the total download.
Additionally, the chat underwent a complete overhaul. Functions like whispering and emojis are now available to communicate with others.
So head to Baro Ki’Teer today to curse your enemies with the mummy’s curse and let them sink into quicksand.
