The online space game Warframe will soon receive a new update that aims to overhaul the spaceships and space battles – the Railjacks. This is said to be one of the “most drastic changes in recent years” and is particularly interesting for solo players and newcomers.
What kind of update is this? With Patch 29.10, the developers state that “all aspects of the Railjacks” will be revised. They were introduced in 2019 with the Empyrean update.
The goal is to make them easier and more beginner-friendly. Additionally, they should fit better into the “flow” of the game.
Some of the biggest changes include:
- Each player now brings their own mods
- Spaceships will generally be cheaper and can now be bought directly
- Spaceships can now also be controlled solo with the help of an NPC crew
An overview of the changes can be found in the new developer workshop:
When will the update be released? A specific release date for Patch 29.10 has not yet been given. However, it is expected to be released for PC next week or the week after.
Later, a release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5 is also planned.
Bothersome farming process will be simplified, mods completely overhauled
What changes for newcomers and solo players? The most significant change for many will likely be the adjustment in acquiring spaceships:
- The costs of individual components will be “drastically reduced”.
- There will be less grind overall
- Those who do not want to farm at all can buy a ready Railjack directly from the market for Platinum.
This should be particularly beneficial for newcomers and solo players. Previously, it was helpful to complete the quest related to spaceships with other players and not alone. This can now theoretically be bypassed by purchasing directly.
Another cool aspect for solo players is the NPC crew. While you will first need to level up your Command Inheritances, you will gain access to crew slots that you can then fill with Ticker in Fortuna.
You will also need to hire your crew for money, with the price depending on the individuals and your standing with their faction. However, you will no longer be dependent on other players.
Major changes to the mods: So far, the Railjacks featured something called Avionics. These will be discontinued and turned into mods. Thus, the additional currency Dirac will also be removed.
The entire system will be called “Plexus” and will make additional adjustments:
- The Battle and Tactical Mods remain as they were before, with the only difference being that they are personally bound to you and transferable to any ship you enter.
- The Integrated Mods function similarly to the Warframe mods: There are personal and aura mods. The latter affects all players.
These adjustments are intended to improve the learning curve for new players. Additionally, players will no longer rely on Flux energy that can be taken away from you; instead, the mods will be powered by your Warframe energy.
You can also share your loadouts with other players.
New missions: In addition to all the adjustments, there will also be 3 new planets with new enemies and important Points of Interest.
Furthermore, the hardest missions will be added to Veil Proxima.
What happens after Patch 29.10? For Warframe, the release of Update 30 “Call of the Tempestarii” is planned soon. This will introduce a new Warframe and additional content for Railjacks.
