In Devstream 113, the developers of Warframe revealed more about the Railjack update’s combat ships. The already gigantic ships are even larger than previously shown. However, you won’t just get them; you have to build them together.
What’s behind the combat ships: Digital Extremes recently announced the new Warframe expansion Fortuna The expansion will bring a new open world “Orb Vallis” to Venus, which is expected to be gigantic. From Orb Vallis, you can fly directly into the universe and plunge into space battles with a combat ship.
Not even half of the combat ship has been shown
A complete floor has been withheld so far: As the developers revealed in their last Devstream, they showed only a fraction of the Railjack combat ship in the demo. There is still a floor in the lower part of the ship and several side rooms that have not yet been shown.
The combat ship will be a kind of shared orbiter: The orbiter is the spaceship available to every player and is basically the own little house in space. In the Railjack combat ship, you will have access to your arsenal, the market, the codex, and possibly more, just like you do in the orbiter. It is also planned that the combat ship will have its own housing and can be decorated.
The combat ship can be customized and upgraded: The combat ship will already be spatially huge. In addition, there will be a variety of expansions: You can equip the ship with software upgrades and mods or attach new weapons.
Railjack is planned as a coop experience: You build the combat ship with the clan
The developers emphasized that Railjack will have a focus on group play and was designed with this idea of “together with the clan” in mind.
You must explore the combat ship with the clan: In Warframe, players can join a clan, which brings many benefits. For the Railjack combat ship, you will explore the technology of the ship within the clan. Afterwards, you will build a space dock where your own Railjack ship will be assembled.
Solo players can find individual parts: Those playing solo will be able to find modules of the combat ship. These could be upgrades that allow cannons to aim automatically.
Railjack brings a new mission system: When you dive into the space battle, you will have to complete various missions for it. For example, you will combat a powerful battleship but will also explore abandoned ships.
When are the Railjack combat ships coming to Warframe?
That is still unknown, but …
… Codename: Railjack is coming a bit later than the open world: There is no exact date yet for the space battles. Railjack will be part of the large Fortuna expansion but will be released with a delay.
The open world on Venus is expected to be released around fall 2018. There is also no specific date yet.
