Digital Extremes, the developers of Warframe, drew the unsuspecting public’s attention with a replica Warframe weapon and a lot of effects as part of a PR campaign.
This is what happened: A Warframe promotional booth was set up at several locations. Interested passersby and fans could take part in a small photo shoot. Participants were handed a replica of the Opticor weapon and posed wildly under the guidance of a photographer – with a small caveat: “Just don’t pull the trigger.”
Yes, but why not? Does something explode? In short, yes. The whole scene around the photo shoot was meticulously manipulated and could explode at the push of a button – including an absolute highlight of a police car that split in two. Noise, smoke, horrified faces, screams, a lot of confusion, but certainly also a lot of fun were the results.

Special highlights of TennoCon 2019 included new information and announcements about:
- a new open world map

- a giveaway that could take the winner to space.
