Originally, our author Leya just wanted to get a cat in Warframe and then put the online shooter aside again. However, the journey to the cat has turned her passion into a hot, intimate gaming love.
A little while ago, I described how Warframe captivated me – I became a Space Ninja out of passion. This passion spread within me like wildfire and ignited into a mature gaming love. The grind to get a cat is to blame.
When I saw one of the kitties from Warframe for the first time, I just had to have one! The extraordinary patterns, colors, and body shapes had me enchanted. This meant it was time to start the download and dive into the online shooter quite aimlessly.
The path to the cat was longer than expected – A journey of discovery began
To get such a cat, I needed to progress quite far in Warframe and reach at least Mastery Rank 5. The Mastery Rank reflects the level of the entire account and increases when experience points are collected.
This should be a piece of cake and quickly achievable, I thought. However, it turned out that I was forced to invest a lot of hours in Warframe to land at Mastery Rank 5.
For my experience points, I had to:
- build and level Warframes
- acquire and level weapons
- obtain and level mods
- gather resources
- dive into missions
- unlock planets and travel through the entire galaxy
- defeat bosses
- pass Mastery Rank tests
- and more
The grind rewarded me with a crazy world – What a ride
I firmly set my mind on getting the cat and dove into the necessary grind. Right from the start, the fast-paced and cool gameplay blew me away, where I immediately became a powerful Space Ninja.
The further I progressed in Warframe and in the grind, the more I became aware of how crazy Warframe is. There are just these charming quirks that make the online shooter particularly lovable for me.
I developed a strong fascination for everything related to the Infested. These are mutants infected by a virus that takes them over. Hence there are Infested weapons like the Pox, which emit toxic gases.

Besides such quirky weapons as described above, there is even more to melt my gamer heart.
- On the maps of Warframe, there are little figurines scattered around that you can find and photograph
- Almost the entire world can be scanned and in the ship’s Codex, you learn about the history of the enemies, plants, and items you find.
- There is a captivating and deep story that gradually reveals what an intelligent universe Warframe is.
- Time and again, the plot takes surprising turns that consistently raise the tension for me. My last major story quest “The War Within” resembled the trajectory of a spiritual journey and was simply epic.
- The missions offer variety, as the maps are always arranged a little differently
- The types of missions repeatedly surprised me. I glided through the universe with my jetpack and in the next mission I dove through old ship wrecks underwater. In the next assignment, I found myself in a puzzle room that required good teamwork. Monotony hardly sets in.
- The gameplay still feels so free and fast like on the first day.
- I love jumping through the maps with my Warframe doing flips or sliding down the next mountain on the open-world map Eidolon. The gameplay felt ultra-powerful right from the beginning, but it keeps getting more extreme and epic.
- The cosmetics know no bounds and every little spot on the character, pets, weapons, or spaceship can be colored.
- I caught myself spending an entire hour perfecting the colors of my spaceship to fit my taste perfectly. I will probably change it frequently and recolor everything.
I have had my cat for a long time – Warframe has still remained
I have had my cat for a long time and she has become a magnificent specimen. Her name is Gizmo and she has long ears, a gorgeous green coat, and a wide fan tail that reminds me of a tropical leaf.
I needed Mastery Rank 5 for her, and what can I say? Yesterday I completed my test for Mastery Rank 7 and I am not going to stop here anytime soon. I am glad I set the cat as my goal and gained such a deep insight into the world of Warframe through the grind. It’s been a long time since a game has captivated and touched me like this.
The helpful and dedicated community of Warframe made the journey truly meaningful for me. Every player who helped me understand the overwhelming online shooter a little better contributed to my positive gaming experience.
