This week, a major update titled “Beast of the Sanctuary” will be released in Warframe, which will also introduce the 35th Warframe, Khora, to the online shooter. She will debut with a new game mode featuring special portals. Along with Khora come new weapons and items to the game. We will introduce you to the new cat lady Khora and her skills in Warframe – and we will tell you how to unlock her.
Warframe has received the major update “Beast of the Sanctuary” for PC. The update will include the long-awaited release of the cat lady Khora. She is the 35th Warframe and fights with a metallic whip and a cat that she summons.
Along with Khora, a new survival game mode has been introduced, which features special portals. Here you will also find blueprints to build Khora.
Here are the details about the update.
The update “Beasts of the Sanctuary” was released today, April 20, on PC and will come to Xbox One and PS4 in May. A specific date is not yet known.
Khora is Released! The skills of the cat lady include her own whip and Kavat
There are only a few Warframes like Excalibur that take their own weapons to the battlefield. Khora has her own metallic whip, which strikes at her opponents like a snake. Unique and new is that Khora has her own animal companion. She can summon a Kavat, her own cat. Khora can be played both defensively and offensively, making her versatile in different team combinations.
- Ability 1 – “Whipclaw”: Khora’s whip triggers an AOE attack. The whip can be equipped with melee mods.
- Ability 2 – “Ensnare”: Khora creates a trap made of living metal, in which enemies are ensnared. Enemies that come too close are also engulfed by the trap. A whip strike destroys the trap.
- Ability 3 – “Venari”: Venari is Khora’s own Kavat, which is summoned with this skill. The cat can switch between three modes in which it either attacks, defends, or heals the team. Players trigger the mode switch themselves.
- Ability 4 – “Strangledome” – Create a dome that traps enemies and strangles them with chains. As long as they are trapped, they take constant damage.
Khora also brings new weapons and cosmetics to Warframe
Khora and her cats also bring several deadly items. There will also be new weapons that you can use to slaughter through hordes of enemies. For Fashion-Frame, there are also a few cosmetics.

New Survival Mode “Sanctuary Onslaught” brings new portal mechanics
To obtain Khora, you must fight through the new survival mode “Sanctuary Onslaught”. Here, the AI Cephalon Simaris has captured Khora and holds her prisoner. As is common for a survival mission, you will face an endless wave of enemies.
New to this survival mode is the portal function. If you survive the enemy waves long enough, a portal will appear through which you can escape. This will throw you into the next randomly generated room, where you will need to continue surviving. The portal can be seen in the image below.
The wait is over, and Khora is coming to PC this week. Consoles will receive the update “Beast of the Sanctuary” in May.
The “Beast of the Sanctuary” update brings Peculiar Mods – but only for testing
The “Beast of the Sanctuary” update will also introduce a first test for the new and peculiar Peculiar Mods.
Originally, it was planned that a reward from “Sanctuary Onslaught” would be the “Peculiar Mods” which translate to something like strange or curious mods. These special modifications themselves serve no purpose except to trigger a quirky effect.
However, since these mods have been received controversially by the community, Digital Extremes is scaling them down to a test run. You will only receive the already introduced “Flower Mods”. These allow flowers to grow from enemies when they are critically hit.
At first, they want to see how players receive the mods and how they interact with them. Afterward, the system could either be completely scrapped or adjusted before more Peculiar Mods are added to the game.
