Warframe introduces a new class (Frame) once again. However, instead of more grim characters that fit the dark theme of the game, the new Warframe Yareli resembles a cute anime girl. Does that fit together?
What’s the deal with the new Warframe? Regularly, new Frames, as the classes in Warframe are called, are added to the game. Usually, these are dark figures that shred enemies with shards of glass, tear their souls apart, or even devour them.
But the latest creation from the developers is named Yareli and is inspired by a cute anime girl:
- Yareli has a fluffy skirt and ruffled sleeves
- She is designed to be very delicate and feminine
- Among her special weapons is a pistol that fires bubbles
- All her animations are super cute. She frolics around when she has nothing to do and draws large hearts in the air with water. Moreover, she giggles happily to herself.
All of this sounds like a rough stylistic break from the dark, creepy world that Warframe usually represents. In that world, our solar system in the distant future is overrun by disgusting, rotting clones, and an inhuman megacorporation ruthlessly exploits everything and everyone. Add to that monstrous mutant creatures and a threat from ancient times.
How does an anime girly frame fit into this?
Fans love the new Warframe
Here’s how the new Frame is being received by players: In the above Dev Stream shown by the developers, Community Manager Rebecca “Space Mom” Ford already praises the sweet Yareli and is sure that fans will love this new class and her look.
And indeed, she is right. The voices from the community sound positive. For example, players have already commented on YouTube and elsewhere:

Negative feedback seems to focus more on the developers teasing “a unique way” to obtain Yareli. Some players suspect an absurd grind for rare fish.
Fun Fact: Yareli and her special look originated from a Warframe anime fan art that the developers liked so much that they decided to develop a new Warframe around it. This approach is not unusual for the developers of Warframe, as a Warframe was already once developed with the help of the community.
