The Canadian development studio Digital Extremes presented the upcoming December update for the popular loot shooter Warframe: Whispers in the Walls. The update adds some new content to the game, including the 55th Warframe and the long-awaited feature “Cross Platform Save” requested by fans.
What kind of new Warframe is this? The new Warframe of the loot shooter is called Qorvex and is one of Albrecht Entrati’s Void projects. While Qorvex is framed on the outside by a multi-layered concrete skeleton, deadly radiation slumbers within it. This is also reflected in its abilities.
Overall, three of Qorvex’s four abilities are based on the use of concrete or radiation. Here you see an overview of its four abilities:
- Ability 1: Chyrinka Pillar
- Qorvex slams a concrete pillar into the ground with a jump animation, which pulses at a steady rhythm.
- With each pulse, the pillar inflicts radiation damage on enemies within a certain radius around the pillar.
- Enemies within the radius are additionally slowed down and are guaranteed to receive a status effect.
- A total of two pillars can be placed that are active at the same time.
- Ability 2: Containment Wall
- Qorvex creates two concrete walls in front of him and crushes his enemies between them.
- Works well in combination with the Chyrinka Pillar since this slows down enemies in its radius, allowing for a larger number of foes to be hit with one attack.
- The Containment Wall and the Chyrinka Pillar have a direct synergy: when the pillar is hit by the Containment Wall, its pulse increases and it ticks faster (with each tick, it adds radiation damage).
- Ability 3: Buff for Qorvex and his allies
- Prevents status effects on himself and team members within the affinity range.
- Ability 4: Crucible Blast
- Qorvex fires a powerful beam of radioactive energy from within, causing radiation damage as well as a guaranteed status effect.
- The Crucible Blast and the Chyrinka Pillar have a direct synergy: when the pillar is hit by the beam, its pulse increases and it ticks faster (with each tick, it adds radiation damage). Additionally, a chain reaction is triggered that will have the radiation status effect.
In addition to its abilities, Qorvex will appear with a signature weapon called “Mandonel.” This is an arch-gun, which means a heavy weapon that fires radioactive projectiles.
How do you get the new Warframe? You receive a blueprint for Qorvex upon completion of the new “Whispers in the Walls” quest.

Warframe finally gets Cross-Save, but only for purchasers of the Founder Pack at first
What kind of feature is this? Cross-Platform-Save or Cross-Save is a highly requested feature by many fans that allows players to use their game progress from one platform (for example, PlayStation) on another (Steam, Xbox).
According to Digital Extremes, Cross-Save will be divided into two different actions: account linking and account merging. The latter will only be possible once within a defined time period and cannot be undone.
- Account Linking:
- The linking of your accounts allows you to select a Warframe profile as your main account and transfer the progress and purchases of this Warframe profile across platforms.
- Account Merging:
- Merging your accounts is a permanent, one-time method of consolidating your accounts into a cross-platform save account.
- the merging is only available for accounts created before November 24. You select one account to act as the main account, which continues the quest and mission progress. All secondary accounts will merge their items, customizations, resources, and currencies with the main account.
In addition to Cross-Save, there will also be Cross-Platform Trading, allowing you to trade with players on another platform.
When does Cross-Save come? Cross-Save will be released with the upcoming update “Whispers in the Walls” – but with a small catch. To ensure the release of the long-awaited feature goes as smoothly as possible, Cross-Save will be released in waves.
First, purchasers of the Founder Pack will gain access to Cross-Save. After that, there will be individual waves in which the remaining players receive the feature.
When exactly non-founders can ultimately use Cross-Save is currently still not precisely known. However, Digital Extremes has stated that they aim to provide Cross-Save to all players by the end of 2023.
Cross-Save in Warframe: What happens to platform-specific content?
As the developers of Warframe revealed, there will be some restrictions when merging accounts. For example, there will be some platform-specific content that cannot be transferred when merging accounts.
More information about Cross-Save and how platform-specific content will be handled is explained by Digital Extremes on the official game’s website at warframe.com.
What else does the update bring? Whispers in the Walls not only introduces the new Warframe Qorvex and the implementation of Cross-Save but also heralds the next major narrative chapter and marks the start of a new main threat.
In line with this, there will be a new secondary weapon called Grimoire, which aims to harness the power of the Voids. Additionally, the introduction of the new Tennokai technique will allow you to perform heavy melee attacks without using up your combo counter. To utilize the Tennokai technique, you need to find mods that support this technique.
Furthermore, the update will introduce a new enemy type called “Murmur”, three new game modes, and the Prime form for Gauss. However, the latter will not be released with the “Whispers in the Walls” release in December but will come in January.
