Warframe (PC, PS4, Xbox) is a free-to-play online shooter that resembles Destiny. You play as a warrior in a distant future, tasked with freeing the entire solar system from evil monsters, clones, and corporations. Currently, Warframe seems to offer exactly what players feel is missing in Destiny 2 : long-term motivation.

Just yesterday, on October 12, we held a live stream about Warframe. The topic was whether the complex online shooter is a suitable alternative for Destiny 2 players who are currently dissatisfied with the endgame.
Now the massive “Plains of Eidolon” update has been released on PC. Warframe now features an open-world map that can be unlocked relatively quickly even by beginners.
Spontaneously, we decided to stream Warframe today again, and I, Leya, will check out “Plains of Eidolon” starting at 6:00 PM:

In Destiny 2, frustration is currently spreading among many “hardcore” players. There is too little to do in the endgame, and long-term motivation is lacking. For instance, the random perks on weapons have been removed, eliminating the hunt for “the god roll,” which provided much motivation in Destiny 1.

For the players who are currently missing the endgame grind in Destiny 2, Warframe could be an appealing alternative. Destiny and Warframe both essentially rely on the “Diablo model” – You kill a lot of enemies, get better loot, and use the loot to defeat stronger enemies. It’s about upgrading your weapons and gear and becoming more powerful.
- In Destiny 2, the loot cycle generally looks like this: You find a better weapon and exchange it for the old one. Then you find another better weapon and exchange it for the old one. This continues and leads to a quick weapon swap. In the endgame, even stronger weapons can be infused into the existing weapons to improve them.
- In Warframe, however, the loot cycle looks like this: You can craft weapons yourself and level them up. You stick with the same weapon for a long time and improve it up to level 30. Players also gather materials to craft new weapons and Warframes.
In Warframe, no weapon is better than another. The strength of a weapon comes from collectible card upgrades and modifications that change the statistics. The statistics can be adapted to various combat situations. Mods are also leveled up. This creates a strong grind based on achieving the best statistics and experimenting with your build.
For these reasons, a discussion arose in our editorial team about whether Warframe could be an alternative for Destiny 2 players who currently miss the grind.
