Warframe has delivered a real hit with the new update Fortuna. The expansion has been so well received that the last record on Steam has been broken.
What is Fortuna? Fortuna is the latest major update for Warframe. In it, you will reach the second large open-world map after the Plains of Eidolon.
On Venus, this time it’s about rescuing oppressed workers from the greedy Corpus corporation, racing on hoverboards, and saving endangered species.
New player record set: Fans seem to be thrilled with Fortuna and have flocked to Venus in droves since last weekend. This led to a new player record on Steam of 131,766 players being online simultaneously.
Even when Game Director Steve Sinclair streamed the moments before the launch via Twitch, over 40,000 people were watching. And nothing much happened except watching a guy work.
Even more successful than the Sacrifice update: With this, Warframe broke the recently set record of over 129,000 concurrent gamers recorded for the last major update Sacrifice. And this is only on Steam, as players on consoles and through the regular launcher are not included in this number.
Players love the new update
What are the reasons for the success? As usual, a lot of work and good ideas are behind the new update. The new map and the enclave of oppressed workers are once again equipped with the familiar exotic charm of the Warframe world.
In addition, the new hoverboard races excite many players and there are plenty of new tasks and challenges on the new map.
Players collect plushies: Anyone currently checking the Warframe Reddit will be flooded with absurd plush toys. Because those who diligently rescue endangered animals from Venus receive stuffed toys to decorate their spaceship. This is currently very well received.
Record could soon be broken again: As impressive as the current record is, it could soon fall again. Because the biggest planned innovation has not yet been released by Digital Extremes.
In 2019, the expansion “Railjack” is supposed to come, where you finally get spaceship battles. This should once again attract masses of players to the servers.
