In the MMO shooter Warframe a new major update has been released featuring another Open World. It has a quite disgusting theme but really cool features. MeinMMO shows you the contents at a glance.
What kind of Open World is this? “Heart of Deimos” is now the third Open World in Warframe after the Plains of Eidolon and Fortuna.
The Duviri Paradox, reminiscent of a drug trip is known but not yet released.
The new update “Heart of Deimos” is inspired by a world dominated by mutants and plagues, and follows this theme with most of the new content. The new Open World offers worm-dug, constantly changing tunnels and huge flies as means of transportation. They work like the K-Boards from Fortuna, but are grosser.
The players’ ship even changes through a parasitic organism that settled in a room some time ago and now tinkers with the Warframes when you feed it enough items. Quite trippy. We have embedded the demo of the new update here:
When does “Heart of Deimos” come out? The release date for the new update was August 25, 2020. Heart of Deimos is released as a free update for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
New Features – Modifiable Warframes and New Suits
How can I modify frames? As one of the new features, the developers introduced the parasitic plant Helminth. It has already “infected” an area of your ship, the part that was previously inaccessible. Helminth eats your resources and even your Warframes.
What you no longer need from your inventory can be fed to Helminth to level the plant. As it gets stronger, it grants you access to special abilities or can absorb skills from Warframes.
This isn’t a bad thing, because you provide Helminth with certain abilities this way. It can “eat” certain skills from Warframes to replace skills on other frames.
What is the purpose of this? In this way, you can build your own Warframe with the strengths of your favorite frames. If you like exactly one ability on one of the suits and miss it on another, you can simply transfer it and remove an unpopular skill from the new frame.
Helminth also has some of its own abilities that the plant can transfer to the frames, with each suit able to contribute only one specific ability. Ultimates are all excluded.
What are these new combat suits? If you don’t like the combined Warframes, you can hunt for “Necramechs” in the new Open World. These are large mechs that you first have to fight in “Heart of Deimos”.
They resemble zombie variants of Transformers and behave similarly. You can leave your Warframe to enter one of these defeated Necramechs and control it from there.
You can even customize and build the Necramechs as you like. Later, you will get your own one that you can summon anywhere, not just in Heart of Deimos.
This is the new Warframe Xaku: As usual, a new addition also brings another Warframe. This time it’s Xaku. The frame was created by the community itself and is a truly strange construct. The frame was pieced together from the remains of other Warframes and looks accordingly.
He has curious skills that allow him to steal weapons from enemies and then use them against foes. Additionally, he can “undress” himself and run around as a bizarre skeleton. His wildly flying pieces of exoskeleton cause devastating damage.
Contents and Features of the Open World
What does the Open World offer? The Open World consists of wide plains with insects and monsters on one hand and underground tunnels on the other. These are dug by worms that are constantly fighting on the world.
In the infected tunnels themselves, there are constantly changing environments and enemies that you must fight:
The two worms responsible for the tunnels also cause the shift between day and night. Depending on which of the two worms has just defeated the other and thus dominates the overworld, it is either bright or dark.
Unlike in the Plains of Eidolon, where enemies become stronger at night, in Heart of Deimos the day is apparently more difficult. Community Director Rebecca Ford says:
The death of one means the rise of the other, a war destined to repeat itself endlessly. The glaring orange sun signifies the rise of a contaminated power that players are better prepared for.

If you want to move faster on the world, you can take one of the strange beetles or flies that populate the world. They are relatively harmless but can be used as a biological hoverboard substitute:
There will also be a fishing opportunity again – although this time the fish can fly. Additionally, there is a fast travel system in the form of a large worm.
What about the story? We don’t know much about the story of Heart of Deimos yet. Apparently, horror, contamination, and parasites are the main themes, and Helminth already gives a glimpse of what influence all this might have.
However, there is still little concrete information regarding the story of the update. Only one scene has been shown so far, in which the “Mother” speaks: a seemingly human woman who is part of a flesh plant:
Her flesh plants are said to exist all around the planet, and they are said to serve to communicate with the “Mother” and complete quests.
Warframe is completely free to play. If you want to check out Heart of Deimos, you can do so now without having to pay. However, if you want to wait a little longer, you can also play on the new consoles, as Warframe is even coming out for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
