Since Warframe released its big update Fortuna, there is the possibility to save endangered species there. Players must find the animals’ feces and track their trails. Our Leya loves it and tells you why.
I never thought I would tell you here on MeinMMO how much I’m currently into animal droppings. But Warframe is one of those games that tells exactly these quirky stories.
The background: With its latest big expansion Fortuna Warframe received a new open-world map on Venus. Here, the story of the oppressed Solaris United is told. A working class that suffers under the tyranny of the greedy Corpus.
The Corpus are merchants who exploit the planet and all its inhabitants. This also applies to the animals of Venus. They are abducted to laboratories and mistreated for experiments.
Feces lead to endangered species
In order to save the animals of Venus, you first need to find and then catch them. They are then taken to a safe place. To pick up the animals’ scent, you look for a fresh feces pile and follow the footprints from there.
The obvious reason to love hunting for droppings: Plush toys! The Solaris United are grateful that you combat the extinction of their fauna. Every time you catch an animal, you earn points that you can exchange with the workers.
If you have collected enough points, you will receive a so-called Floof for it – a plush toy that resembles the species you saved.
Of course, I urgently wanted to start a collection of plush toys, like many other Tenno. The internet is currently full of players who, shortly after the update, are already showcasing their huge collections.

I came for the plush toys, I stayed for something else
You should know that the open-world map on Venus is a breathtaking winter landscape. The area is crisscrossed by glaciers that reach into the sky. Who walks through the glittering snow is enveloped by a icy wind that coats the character with snow.
I thought that the way to the plush toys would not bring me any joy. Because what really happens, except following a few tracks in the snow?
The search for the animals is incredibly relaxing: The very fact that actually not much happens and that catching the animals is kept simple makes it meditative for me. I spend hours walking through the snowy landscape and leisurely catching one animal after another.
In the meantime, I play around a bit on the map. Either I grab my hoverboard and glide from manure pile to manure pile. Or I take my jetpack – the Archwing – and fly through the snowstorm. Similarly, there are strange tree-sized mushrooms on which I bounce like on a trampoline. Meanwhile, I have my headphones on and listen to my favorite music.
So far, I have hardly done anything else but leisurely walk through the map and save the endangered animals. However, there is still so much to experience and so much action. However, I’m not in a hurry to “complete” the new open world as quickly as possible. The new missions have, just like me, their time.
The plush toys have now become a sweet sideline that I don’t want to miss. But it is the search itself that keeps driving me back into the winter wonderland of Venus.
