Today marks the start of the fifth year of the action game Warframe, which the Canadian developer and publisher Digital Extremes celebrates with some interesting facts and an anniversary website. For this year’s TennoCon, taking place in July in Ontario, “one of the biggest reveals of the year” has also been announced.
The free-to-play action game Warframe is now entering its fifth year, and the Canadian developer and publisher Digital Extremes looks back on the beginnings of the space ninja game.
While the title had a hard time in the market due to its unusual business model in 2013, Warframe has recorded 38,083,936 registered online users on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 since its open beta on March 21, 2013. Compared to the previous year, the player base has grown by 8 million Tenno.
Players spent more than 136,747 years in Warframe
Furthermore, Warframe has won several Game of the Year awards as well as the Steam Labour of Love Award 2017, received its first open-world expansion with “Plains of Eidolon,” and has been updated more than 22 times. Moreover, in 2016, there was even an in-game wedding broadcasted live.
Players have spent the last five years
- produced 52,972,344 Warframes and 234,766,197 weapons
- killed Captain Vor, the first boss of the game, 53,117,969 times
- made the infamous Stalker meet his end about 41,765,109 times
In total, players have spent 136,747 years, 49,912,765 days, and 1,197,906,351 hours in Warframe so far.
To properly celebrate Warframe’s birthday, a microsite will be launched on the official game website, focusing entirely on the last five years of the action game. There, Tenno will not only learn unique Warframe facts and discuss their favorite moments but can also discover some free in-game items.
Third TennoCon with a Surprise
This year, the third TennoCon will also take place on Saturday, July 7, 2018. For those who cannot be in London, Ontario, Canada, on that day, the spectacle will also be streamed on twitch.tv/warframe. No less than “one of the biggest reveals of the year” is promised.
