The “Honest Trailer” of Warcraft: The Beginning is merciless. The film receives rather harsh (but still amusing) criticism.
Whenever a big game or a major film is released, it doesn’t take long for the “Honest Trailer” crew to take care of it and thoroughly mock the respective work. In line with the DVD release of “Warcraft: The Beginning,” they have now also tackled this film and do not hold back.
Vibrant Orcs and Wooden Humans
The trailer praises the portrayal of the Orcs, who come across very well with their emotions and the detailed animation, but criticizes the human actors who fail at precisely these tasks. With 6 main characters and 5 different traitors within the plot, the film additionally feels like a season of “Game of Thrones,” only compressed into 2 hours, which simply does not do the whole thing justice.
The ending of the film is also criticized, as it is not a real ending – the conflicts remain unresolved. It is suggested, “Maybe they will include a proper ending in the first expansion!”
Near the end, the narrator even becomes so desperate that he seeks help from the “Game Theory” folks who at least have some knowledge of the lore and story. There is a little jab at the film’s release date at the end: “I can hardly wait for the League of Legends movie to come out – also 6 years late.”
But it’s best if you just watch the trailer yourself in full length:
What do you think of these “Honest Trailers”? Is everything a bit too exaggerated, or is there some truth in it?
Regardless, it is now more of an honor to get an Honest Trailer – because whether you come off well or poorly, most likely remember the whole thing simply as “funny”.
