If there is a successor to the Warcraft movie, then Duncan Jones knows quite well what should be included.
The movie “Warcraft: The Beginning” has polarised quite strongly. While it received rather poor reviews in its home country of America and fell short of expectations, it was a great success in China and relatively solid in Europe. It has been known for a while that director Duncan Jones is very eager to make a second part – and even a third, as it was supposed to be a trilogy.
However, Jones has spoken little about the specific ideas so far. Now he has revealed first details about what potential storylines could appear in upcoming films.
For the future of the Orcs, he has inevitably envisioned the storyline of Go’el. This character is – at least according to the official lore – later captured by humans and ends up as “Thrall” in a dungeon, where he learns a lot about humans. The Orcs would now begin to adapt to Azeroth and learn many things, such as how to forge steel armor.
Regarding the Alliance, Jones does not want to reveal too much, as “you never know” what the future holds. He mentioned that Khadgar opens the “Pandora’s box” (and probably plays too much with magic). But the story arc of Lothar also needs to be continued. Similarly, something could still be made of Varian, as he appears only briefly as a child.
It is also interesting what Jones has planned for Dalaran, the city of mages. In the original lore of the games, Dalaran was anchored to the ground at the foot of the Alterac Mountains – in the movie it is already flying. For the upcoming films, they would take the opposite approach and land Dalaran, leading to a significant rise in new magic users, as the Kirin Tor would share their teachings.
However, whether there will ever be a second or even third film of Warcraft depends solely on the production studio Legendary. They will eventually make a decision.
Meanwhile, other people are wondering what Stormwind would look like as an amusement park.
