From time to time, industry leaders such as Blizzard Entertainment (developer and publisher of World of Warcraft) are looking for new employees – sometimes employees whose job description certainly allows for some speculation.
Note on the Warcraft Series
Currently, they are looking for a Senior Writer to support the Blizzard team with creative skills. However, this person will not simply write a few Warcraft stories, but will also be involved in “television and animation writing”.
So what does this mean? Could it be that Blizzard is planning a Warcraft series in addition to the Warcraft film, which has already completed filming?
Overall, it seems that Blizzard is not completely averse to the idea, as Rob Pardo from Blizzard recently stated. During a developer Q&A, he was asked why they were creating a film instead of just a brilliant series in the Warcraft universe.
Comparison with Game of Thrones
Fans received the answer that Blizzard is not opposed. When they started with the film or the planning of the adaptation, according to him, Game of Thrones did not exist yet. We all know how that series turned out.
Of course, Blizzard now also knows how successful series of this kind are or can be, and it is not surprising that they would like to do both (film and series). Pardo reveals that if Duncan Jones (the director of the film) does his job as well as hoped, then perhaps other studios will approach Blizzard wanting to create a series in the Warcraft universe.
And then … who knows.
