The problems and shifts around the Warcraft movie continue. Now even Universal calls the film a “problem movie.”
Too nerdy for the masses?
In just under 9 months, the Warcraft movie will finally hit theaters worldwide. A report from collider.com has now revealed that Universal classifies the film as a “problem movie.” This has been the case before with productions from Legendary when Universal saw a problem with the age rating and considered a film too risky.
Particularly with Warcraft, there are concerns that the film might be considered “quite nerdy” and thereby has little chance of appealing to the general audience, although the scenes shown at Comic-Con excited the audience.
Meanwhile, Duncan Jones, the director of Warcraft, has also spoken out on Twitter: Fans shouldn’t worry about the “problem movie” label, because Universal has set the film’s release for early summer, the same date that “Jurassic World” held this year – which would be a sign of confidence, meaning the film must be doing something damn right.
