War Thunder was set to receive a feature called “Trauma Pack” in the upcoming update “Flaming Arrows”. This first aid kit was supposed to revive injured crew members, but due to negative feedback, the feature was removed.
“Sir, our loader is dead! …. Oh, never mind, just a flesh wound, let’s keep going!” Such situations would have occurred in the MMO tank shooter War Thunder if the “Trauma Pack” had remained in the game. But it hasn’t, as some players found it simply too powerful.
Tank Necromancy
The Trauma Pack is a kind of automatic first aid kit that instantly revives knocked-out crew members without any additional player action. However, since many fans of realistic simulations are active in War Thunder, some took issue with this type of “necromancy”.
Furthermore, the feature is game-changing, as it makes it nearly impossible to eliminate a tank by taking out the entire crew with the Trauma Pack. Particularly heavy tanks, which are hard to destroy, could be dealt with effectively. With the Trauma Pack, however, this would no longer be possible. Additionally, the Trauma Pack could only be obtained through significant grinding, which was also unfair to casual players.
Back to the Drawing Board
The developers at Gaijin Entertainment listened to the criticism and decided to remove the Trauma Pack from the game for the time being and revise it. “We already have several ideas in our internal discussions that build on your suggestions.”

In our opinion, a commendable approach. What do you think of Gaijin’s approach and the Trauma Pack? Is it really too powerful? And how would you adjust it? Let us know in the comments!
