Military-MMO War Thunder (PC, PS4) leaves the beta test with the current patch. After four years in open beta, the game is now officially released.
As Gaijin announces, with patch 1.65 “Way of the Samurai” they are leaving the open beta test, which they have been in since 2012. Now the nations represented in the game have their own research trees for ground vehicles and aircraft. Ships are already in pre-beta testing. 1.65 marks a milestone in the history of the MMO – now they are no longer in beta, now they are “out there.”
For players, not much will probably change. In free-to-play titles, “Open Beta” and “Release” usually only differ by naming. A nice release trailer is available for the launch of War Thunder.
War Thunder gets Japanese Lowriders
With patch 1.65, the Japanese forces finally get tanks in War Thunder . The new update “Way of the Samurai” also brings new maps and a new gameplay feature.
During World War II, the powerful navy and air force of the Japanese Empire made a name for themselves. The army of the Tenno also had some interesting tank types. These vehicles are now coming to War Thunder with the update “Way of the Samurai”.
The Wobble Tank
The tanks of Japan are not all World War models like the “Type 3: Chi-Nu”. Because shortly after the capitulation of the Empire, the Japanese started building their own tanks again, which we can also drive in the game. For example, the “ST-A1” from the 1950s or the development “Type 61”. These new developments were necessary because the tanks offered by the USA were too heavy for the bridges of Japan and the average smaller Japanese soldiers could not cope with the dimensions of the US tanks.
However, a special case is the tank “Type 73” from the 780s. This cutting-edge tank features the new gameplay feature “hydropneumatic suspension”. This allows the Type 73 to change its ground clearance and the tilt angle of the hull, thus reacting ideally to the combat situation. In addition to the Type 73, several other selected tanks will also receive this feature. In addition to the Japanese tanks, the new update also includes two new maps.
