The long-awaited Diablo 4 is expected to be released in 2020 at the earliest. This was reported by former and current Blizzard employees to a French daily newspaper.
This is what the employees say about Diablo 4: In a new report arising from an interview with former and current Blizzard employees, it is stated (via icy veins):
Teams at Blizzard Entertainment have already presented the long-awaited Diablo 4. It is also known that a new Overwatch game is being developed. However, neither of these games will be released before 2020, at best. And employees in Versailles do not know if they will still be working there when the titles are released.
“Activision Blizzard will make less profit, but still make a lot of profit,” says a veteran.
Who says this? The French daily newspaper Le Monde has now reported on the problems at the gaming giant Blizzard, which have arisen after numerous layoffs. Blizzard Europe is currently laying off about 30% of its workforce. This also affects Blizzard in France. They have their office in Versailles, southwest of Paris.
Le Monde interviewed some current and former employees regarding the current situation and the future of Blizzard. You can find the French article on Le Monde here, but it is only fully readable for subscribers.
The layoffs of about 30% of the workforce are still ongoing and have not yet been completed.
What does this mean? Most fans are aware that Blizzard is working on a successor in the Diablo universe, aside from Diablo Immortal. However, this report gives hope that an insider report from early June is accurate.
Multiple sources from Blizzard reportedly informed Kotaku author Jason Schreier in early June that the main announcements for the new Overwatch and Diablo 4 are expected to take place at BlizzCon 2019.

The new report from Le Monde, in which employees explain that teams have already presented these two games, at least suggests that fans can soon catch their first glimpses of the new Overwatch and Diablo 4.
However, whether this will actually be confirmed at BlizzCon 2019 has not been confirmed by Blizzard so far. What do you think, when will the announcement come?
