For FIFA 22 the Street mode VOLTA returns, reminiscent of the old FIFA Street editions. We will show you what changes.
What is VOLTA? In FIFA 20, EA finally introduced the long-awaited Street mode with VOLTA that many FIFA fans had wished for. However, the two previous versions for FIFA 20 and FIFA 21 never fully captured the hearts of FIFA players, as evidenced by the PlayStation trophies.
Now, EA wants to make fundamental changes and promises a fun upgrade with VOLTA for FIFA 22, putting more focus on fun with friends. More on the general release of FIFA 22 can be found here: Everything about the release of FIFA 22
VOLTA reminds of FIFA Street with power shots and tricks
What’s new in VOLTA: Flair and skill moves are finally supposed to be the focus in VOLTA for FIFA 22 and not just an addition. The new VOLTA gameplay is designed to reward skill moves, flair passes, and wall passes, and has therefore introduced the “Skill Meter”.
The new “Skill Meter” is a bar at the top of the screen that consists of 3 parts. Filling the first bar counts the next goal as double, 2 filled bars count the next goal as triple, and completely filled “Skill Meter” counts the next goal even four times.
You can fill the “Skill Meter” by:
- Flair passes
- Successful wall passes
- Overcoming an opponent with a skill move
- Tunneling the opponent
- Taking the ball from the opponent
Also new are the so-called “Signature Abilities”. These are special abilities that you can choose when creating your avatar. There are 3 different abilities from which you must choose one. The specific abilities are activated simply by pressing R1/RB after the “Signature Ability Meter” has been charged. The effect then lasts for a certain time before a cooldown occurs.
These abilities are available for selection:
- Power Strike – Boosts shot stat by 50 % (even beyond 99 points). The effect lasts 30 seconds and has a cooldown of 80 seconds
- Pure Pace – Grants a huge boost to the pace value. Lasts 15 seconds and has a 70-second cooldown.
- Aggressive Tackle – Grants fouls and tackles without penalty. Active for 45 seconds before entering a 90-second cooldown.

VOLTA Arcade brings party games for 4 players
This is VOLTA Arcade: VOLTA Arcade is a new party mode available only on weekends. You compete there with up to 3 other players in 4 random VOLTA party games and fight for the tournament victory. At the start, there will be 8 different arcade games:
- Dodgeball
- Foot Tennis
- Disco Lava
- Quick Strike
- Wall Ball Elimination
- Team Keepaway
- Target Gallery
- Corner Scramble

Whoever collects the most points at the end of the tournament wins the arcade tournament and collects VOLTA Coins and VOLTA Season XP.
