The release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is just around the corner, and a new trailer is set to get players excited about the games. They have also enlisted support from Ed Sheeran, showing new content.
What kind of trailer is this? The trailer was released just over a week before the official release of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet – the release is scheduled for November 18.
The gameplay and cutscenes in the trailer are accompanied by the pop song “Celestial” by Ed Sheeran, which may seem unusual at first. However, the song was already released in September 2022 as part of a collaboration between the singer and Pokémon, and Pokémon played a significant role in the older official video for the song (via YouTube).
Otherwise, the trailer summarizes a lot that was already known. However, two monster forms stand out in the trailer.
Donphan from the Future and the Past?
What are these forms? In the trailer, two drawings are briefly shown that depict new monster forms reminiscent of the monster Donphan. One appears more prehistoric, while the other looks more futuristic. Both monsters are also briefly shown in “real” form in the trailer.
These forms have been documented in reports depending on the version in the “Scarlet Book” or the “Violet Book,” explains the official website (via pokemon.com). The “past form” in the Scarlet Book is described as “Giant Tooth,” while the Violet Book mentions the “monster named Iron Treads.”
It is assumed that these forms could be version-exclusive – similar to the legendary Koraidon and Miraidon. Pokémon Scarlet represents the past, while Violet represents the future.
What else is in the trailer? Various monsters are shown, such as:
- The starters and the new legendaries
- The unexpectedly scary ghost dog “Gruff”
- The new Girafarig evolution
- The piglet “Lechonk,” which excited everyone with its English name
- The new monster Gierspenst, which recently chased unsuspecting players in Pokémon GO
- and many more.
Additionally, the new Tera Crystal feature and the raids are introduced, which you can complete with friends.
Here, for example, the Tera Crystal forms of Katapultra, Dedenne, Scizor, and Gengar are presented as possible opponents. What is still missing are the evolutions of the starter Pokémon – these are still unknown.
