The latest killer in Dead by Daylight has been revealed and he is even more brutal than expected. Moreover, he brings along 3 minions…
A few days ago, there was a first teaser for the new killer “The Knight” in Dead by Daylight, and now the official trailer is available and the patch has already arrived for testing on the PTB. The Knight is likely one of the most ambitious killers yet, as he comes with three different AI assistants, making him a real horror experience for all survivors.
This is what the new killer “The Knight” can do in Dead by Daylight
The Knight is a “standard killer” in terms of his basic stats, so he has a terror radius of 32 meters, a movement speed of 115% (4.6 m/s), and an average size. But aside from that, the Knight is quite “special”. As the trailer hinted, the killer comes with 3 additional guardians that he can summon.
The guardians are a quite complex mechanic. By using “summon guardian,” the Knight can switch to the summoning mode and select a path. Once finished, one of the guardians is summoned at the end of the path, who will patrol that route in the future. They move back and forth along the path. If they find a survivor during this, the guardian places a banner on the ground and then starts the chase. The guardian can independently injure that survivor and will chase them for a certain amount of time or until a survivor picks up the banner.
Alternatively, the Knight can instruct the guardian to destroy a specific object – a destructible wall, a pallet, or a generator. In that case, the guardian appears, performs the action, and then disappears.
There are three different guardians that the Knight can summon, which appear in a fixed order:
- The “Carnivex” is particularly good at destroying objects and completes this task faster.
- The “Assassin” excels at tracking survivors and moves faster during the hunt. Additionally, he inflicts the “Deep Wounds” effect on survivors upon hitting them (similar to Legion).
- The “Jailer” patrols longer and is better at locating survivors.
Only one guardian can be active at any given time.
To see the abilities in action, we’ve included a video from YouTuber and streamer Otzdarva (or “Not Otzdarva”) here, who showcases the abilities one by one:
These are the new killer perks of the Knight
Like all killers, the Knight comes with three unique perks. Initially, only the Knight can use these perks, but you can unlock them for all other killers through the prestige system and then use them. The three perks of the Knight are:
- Nowhere to Hide – When the killer damages a generator, the aura of all survivors within 24 meters is revealed for 3 / 4 / 5 seconds.
- Hex: Face the Darkness – This hex is inactive until the killer injures a survivor, then a dull totem is ignited. While the hex is active, all survivors outside the terror radius of the killer scream periodically, revealing their position and aura for 2 seconds. Other survivors see the aura of the cursed survivor for 12 / 10 / 8 seconds. If the cursed survivor goes down or is healed, the hex is lifted, and the totem extinguishes. If the hex totem is cleansed by a survivor, this perk is permanently deactivated.
- Hubris – Whenever the killer is stunned by a survivor, that survivor suffers from the “Exposed” status for 10 / 15 / 20 seconds, going down with a single hit.
These are the new survivor perks of Vittorio
As usual, Vittorio Toscano comes with three unique perks. At first, only Vittorio can use these perks, but you can unlock them for all other survivors through the prestige system. His three perks are:
- Potential Energy – After a generator has been repaired continuously for 12 / 10 / 8 seconds, the survivor can press the “Active Ability 2” button to activate this perk. While the perk is active, the survivor does not repair the generator, but instead fills this perk with tokens. Each 1.5% of the generator grants one token, up to a maximum of 20 tokens.
As long as this perk has at least one token, the survivor can press the “Active Ability 2” button while repairing a generator to consume all tokens and immediately progress 1% on the generator per token. If the survivor loses a health state, the perk loses all tokens and is disabled. Failing a skill check also removes some tokens. - Fogwise – A great skill check while repairing a generator reveals the killer’s aura for 4 / 5 / 6 seconds.
- Quick Gambit – When the survivor is being chased within 24 meters of a generator, all survivors repairing that generator do so 6% / 7% / 8% faster.
What else is in the patch? Aside from that, the new DLC “Forged in Fog” also includes a new map that comes with the Knight. Also included is the buff for the survivor flashlights and also the survivor bots for private matches.
When is the chapter coming out? Patch 6.4.0 “Forged in Fog” will be released on November 22, 2022. So you have a few weeks to prepare for the arrival of the Knight and his four guards.
