In Gotham Knights, you take on the role of some well-known heroes from the DC universe and free Batman’s home from crime. After the title initially did not fare well with fans, the latest trailer was convincing.
Which game is it about? In Gotham Knights, you can choose one of four well-known superheroes from the DC universe and fight crime in the open world of the famous city Gotham in duo co-op.
You can choose heroes who already fought alongside the deceased Batman and are specifically known for their involvement in Gotham. These are Nightwing (Dick Grayson), Robin (Tim Drake), Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), and Red Hood (Jason Todd).
What is this new trailer about? The new trailer focuses more on the hero Red Hood and shows his abilities. One focus here is on brutal melee attacks.
“Bulky and Slow”
Why did the game not fare well before? In August 2020, a gameplay walkthrough of Gotham Knights was released on YouTube, which shows various gameplay scenes lasting almost 8 minutes. It is noticeable that the trailer on the official YouTube channel of the game has a poor ratio of likes to dislikes.
With 180,000 views, the video received 4,093 dislikes and only garnered 3,263 “likes” (as of August 10, 2022, 6:00 PM). One point of criticism from players at that time was that the RPG elements unnecessarily complicated the superhero experience, as one could not fight a petty criminal unless the corresponding level had been reached.

Another trailer showcasing gameplay of Nightwing and Red Hood also did not fare well. On 7,614 likes, there are 8,496 dislikes on YouTube. In the comments, it was mentioned that the combat system feels slow and bulky. Additionally, the focus on Red Hood seems too much on firearms.

What do the players say about the new trailer? The new trailer seems to be received much better by the players, even though it hasn’t been out long. With 5,400 views, there are 1,200 “likes” and just 168 dislikes. (via YouTube)
