THQ Nordic presented a new trailer for the remake of Gothic 1 during the showcase. This is a long-awaited sign of life since fans were excited by the playable teaser almost 3 years ago.
The trailer takes us into the old mine and showcases other familiar content from the RPG classic. Among other things, you can see the revamped armor “Shadow Cloak” at minute 00:26, which every Shadow received upon entering the old camp. The Orc slaves also make their appearance (minute 00:35), accompanied by the old sound design of the whips.
Compared to the playable teaser from 2019, the remake has visually advanced significantly and provides Gothic fans with the feeling they have been longing for.
MeinMMO video producer Anna Alberg and MeinMMO author Mark Sellner were particularly excited about the “Mine Crawlers,” which can be seen at the end of the trailer (minute 01:42). Gothic is one of the games they both remember from their childhood, and they are less fond of remembering how much fear they had back then about entering the nest of these insects. Now, 21 years later, the sight of these monsters still sends a chill down their spines.
Even the YouTube users are positive about the remake, as can be seen from the comments:
- Actionklotz says: ‘This looks much better than the demo last time. Can’t wait to see more. Thank you for not giving up on the game.’
- IgerTV says: ‘I’ve been a fan of the project since the demo of the remake was playable. The producers took the players’ feedback to heart and stylistically adjusted the game. It’s dark and Gothic-like, I’m keeping my fingers crossed.’
- Dedreen says: ‘I love that they are using so many original sounds, they really listened to the players’ feedback.’
- Meronix says: ‘Now it’s going to be the real atmosphere of the mines. Good job, keep it up.’
- 8Mixik6 says: ‘The atmosphere is here, now just the release date and we are home.’
The German YouTuber HandOfBlood also reacted to the trailer and wrote detailed timestamps in the comment. He offered the producers that he would be available for a dubbing job. The producers themselves liked the comment. Who knows, maybe we will soon hear Hanno’s voice in Gothic 1.
What do you think about the trailer? Did you play Gothic back in the day? Feel free to let us know in the comments here at MeinMMO.
