The new Pokémon editions Scarlet and Violet have a new trailer. This reveals not only November 18, 2022, as the release date but also the legendary pocket monsters that adorn the cover of both games.
What sets the new Pokémon games apart? The new Pokémon games Scarlet and Violet are said to be the first open-world role-playing games in the main Pokémon series. You can explore the world of both games completely freely, without being bound to a sequence dictated by the story.
Furthermore, the new Pokémon editions Scarlet and Violet allow exploring diverse locations with up to four players. How exactly the multiplayer aspect will look in the new games is still unknown, but besides exploring together, typical elements of the Pokémon series such as trading little monsters and battling will also be possible again.
A novelty in the Pokémon series will be the different themes in Scarlet and Violet. While in Scarlet you wear an outfit with reddish accents and help the female professor Antiqua, in Violet there will be an outfit with purple or violet accents as well as the male professor Futurus.

What themes are pursued by the new Pokémon games? As the names of the two professors already suggest, Pokémon Scarlet primarily deals with the theme of Antiquity, while Pokémon Violet focuses more on the future. This is also reflected in the designs of the two legendary Pokémon that can be seen on the cover of each respective game – Koraidon and Miraidon.
Both Pokémon have a lizard-like appearance but differ significantly in design. The red Koraidon of the Scarlet Edition has a more ancient design with feathers on its head and limbs. Miraidon from the Violet Edition is distinctly more modern designed and has a jet propulsion system on its legs, allowing it to fly.
