Overwatch 2 released a new trailer showcasing the first gameplay of the new hero Ramattra. Players have responded positively to the character, especially due to his lore.
This is Ramattra: Ramattra is a new tank hero, who will be available in Overwatch 2 starting December 6. He has two forms he can switch between: Omnic form and the larger Nemesis form.
In the new trailer for Ramattra, his abilities are demonstrated: the video provides insight into his voicelines during combat. The new hero has the following abilities:
- Void Accelerator (Weapon in Omnic form): Fires projectiles and can generate a shield
- Pummel (Weapon in Nemesis form): Delivers energy-charged punches in close combat. The form reduces frontal damage and movement speed
- Nemesis Form: Transforms Ramattra into the Nemesis form, granting him more armor and changing his abilities
- Anihilation: Creates a swarm of nanobots that attack enemies and reduce enemy damage by 50%
- Ravenous Vortex (Ult): Fires a projectile that explodes, slowing and grabbing hit enemies from the air.
These reactions are present: The gameplay trailer was particularly well received by lore fans of Overwatch. It garnered over 115,000 upvotes and nearly 7,500 comments within 16 hours of its release on YouTube.
The lines Ramattra utters during combat have evidently made an impression:
- “I love how Ramattra is super nice to omnics and robots. It makes you wonder if he is actually evil or just trying to save his species.” – Joshua Park
- “I can’t wait for the in-game conversations between him and Zen[yatta]!” – rockuro
- “The Nemesis form alone gave me goosebumps. He will definitely be fun to play.” – Pea Vine
However, there are also concerned voices who consider Ramattra problematic and label him as the “first P2W hero.” Unlike its predecessor, the heroes in Overwatch 2 will not be immediately available for free for everyone. Players will have to play up to level 55 of the Battle Pass to unlock Ramattra, which is about 70% of the pass.
That’s a lot of work, which is why some players expect that the hero will simply be bought directly to save the effort, especially if the hero turns out to be strong.
