Earth: Revival was recently announced and is a survival game for mobile and PC. The first images remind of a mix of Destiny and Anthem, but with typical survival mechanics like base building and crafting. A beta test has now started, and we were able to play a bit at gamescom.
Earth: Revival is a new sci-fi shooter with strong survival elements. You explore a large open world, need to eat and drink, team up with like-minded players, build your base, gather resources, and craft to your heart’s content. Additionally, there is plenty of loot to collect.
The first images appear to be a mix of Destiny and Anthem, but with a focus on mobile. There are also supposed to be PvE raids where you team up with a larger group.
- Earth: Revival has been in closed beta since September 2nd, for which you can sign up. Here is the website (via 2112.nvsgames.com).
The world is full of alien dangers, and you are part of a movement to bring hope back to Earth.

Our editor-in-chief Leya, who still nostalgically misses Anthem, played Earth: Revival for 30 minutes at gamescom. This is what she says about the new sci-fi shooter:
Earth: Revival is definitely worth a look if you like Destiny, Anthem, or No Man’s Sky, or if you used to like them. I would especially recommend it for mobile. At gamescom, I was able to test the MMO shooter on both PC and mobile.
On PC, the graphics are dated and it plays rather clumsily. The staff member Daisy revealed to me on site that the shooter is primarily developed for mobile, and that they are still accommodating PC as a platform.
On mobile, I also enjoy Earth: Revival much more, as the controls are significantly smoother and the visuals come across much better on the small screen. It brings complexity by requiring you to manage resources and survive in various biomes on the map. You get a pet that fights by your side. I took a small space bunny with wings with me.
Earth: Revival is particularly fun when I can enter my suit with my ultimate ability, rise up, and rain a hail of bullets on the aliens below me. This suddenly reminds me of Anthem. I can already imagine that a raid in the evening with friends on the couch would be cool, where everyone combines their different weapons.
By the way, the game is developed by the Chinese company “ByteDance”, which is particularly known for its popular video platform TikTok.
