Krafton, the developer studio behind PUBG, has shown a new trailer for an unannounced game. The scenes are extremely brutal, but some fans are impressed.
What does the trailer show? It shows first scenes of an unannounced game and is supposed to introduce the visual concept of the game.
The trailer begins with a view of a rain-soaked man holding a sword in his hands, his arms smeared with blood. We then hear a woman asking what she has done wrong and see the sword against her neck.
Shortly after, the camera shows a dense jungle or forest from above. Meanwhile, we hear a sound that reveals to us what we see a few seconds later: the woman’s head has been severed. It now lies on the floor in a pool of blood, but the woman doesn’t seem to be dead, as we continue to hear gasping for air.
The perspective shifts again, and we see the man with the sword walking among lifeless bodies – holding the severed head in his hand. Then we look from the head’s perspective at the scene and see what has likely happened before. The man has killed the individuals.
What kind of game is this? The game does not have an official name yet and has not been presented. Accordingly, little is known about the title.
The video description on YouTube indicates that the game is based on the Korean fantasy novel “The Bird That Drinks Tears” (original title: The Nhaga Eater). The German translation of the title would be “Der Vogel, der Tränen trinkt”.
“An epic comparable to Lord of the Rings or Dune”
What kind of novel is this? On the official website for the unannounced game, we see a description of the Korean novel (via unannouncedproject.krafton.com).
The fantasy novel by Lee Young-do is a beloved bestseller for 20 years and tells the story of four different fantasy races based on East Asian mythology.
One of these races is the Naga, who occupy the southern half of the continent and, according to the description, pursue a terrible plan. The three northern tribes must form a team of three fighters because of the said plan, who will travel into the jungle of the Naga and save allies there.
The design director of the game, Ian McCraig, describes the novel as follows:
The Bird That Drinks Tears is different from all other fantasy stories I’ve read so far and shows new ways to explore human nature. That is what attracts me the most. It is an epic comparable to Lord of the Rings or Dune. The fantasy world is fresh and alive, blending traditional archetypes with dream and nightmare imagery that is completely new.

Players disagree on whether the trailer is too brutal
What are the reactions? Under the trailer on YouTube, there are both positive and negative reactions. Some players find the emotions expressed in the trailer impressive.
