In a new video, our colleagues from GameStar Talk discuss the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 together with MeinMMO’s editor-in-chief Leya Jankowski and why this was no coincidence. Watch the video here.
What is GameStar Talk? On the YouTube channel GameStar Talk since 2023, you can basically see the GameStar Podcast in video format. This is a joint offering from GameStar, GamePro, and MeinMMO, aiming to entertain you with videos and discussions while also providing something new: perspectives, insights, and knowledge about games, their developers, and their players.
What is being discussed: In their newest video (via YouTube), Micha from GameStar, talks with Human Nagafi, a business consultant at 1789 Innovations and podcaster at Corporate Therapy as well as Critical Infinity and with Leya Jankowski, the editor-in-chief of MeinMMO, about the success of Baldur’s Gate 3.
The game was developed under Larian and without the collaboration of a publisher. They discuss how the studio managed to fund the development out of their own pockets and achieve such a hit.
Of course, Steam, GOG & Co. have made it easier for smaller indie studios and developers to release their games without a publisher. However, Larian can’t necessarily be considered a classic indie studio with 400 employees.
What clever strategy and even smarter communication are behind the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 is revealed in this video from GameStar Talk.
