With The First Descendant, Nexon Games is launching a new looter-shooter. Players are already comparing the title to Bungie’s hit Destiny.
What kind of game is it? The First Descendant is an upcoming looter-shooter with RPG elements developed by the Korean studio Nexon Games.
In the free-to-play title, you embody so-called “Descendants” who are said to possess special abilities. The Steam page of the shooter lists the following features for the gameplay:
- Abilities
- limitless mobility
- hook-mounted actions
- firearms as well as additional effects
Furthermore, it is stated that you can co-operatively fight bosses with up to 4 players at different difficulty levels and can destroy various body parts of those boss enemies in battle.
You should be able to equip your character with 3 firearms, 4 secondary equipment pieces, and various secondary weapons for this purpose. It will also be possible to enhance your character and its skills with the weapons using items.
What does the trailer show? The trailer shows various running characters in different settings from behind between minutes 00:09 and 00:25. At minute 00:28, you then see 3 characters from the front for the first time. From minute 00:30, the action starts, and the pace of the trailer picks up considerably.
From minute 00:30 to 00:36, we can take a look at the gameplay for the first time. Here, the trailer shows a confrontation with AI enemies, a jump attack, and fast movement using a grappling hook.
“Looks like Anthem combined with Destiny”
How is the trailer received? Judging by the “likes” on YouTube, players have mixed opinions about the trailer. With nearly 29,000 views, the trailer has only 499 likes and 212 dislikes (as of August 9, 2022, 13:00).
In the comments, many players are already comparing the shooter to Destiny or Destiny 2 and other well-known representatives of the genre.

Also, in the comments on the YouTube channel of the American online magazine GameSpot, Bungie’s successful title Destiny is a recurring theme:

On which platforms is the shooter coming out? The First Descendant will be released on Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
When is the shooter coming out? An exact release date for The First Descendant is not yet known. However, the Steam page of the shooter reveals that it is supposed to come “soon”. Therefore, it is quite possible that the release will still take place in 2022.
In advance of the release, a beta will be playable on Steam. This is set to start, as revealed by the reveal trailer, on October 20, 2022, and will run until October 26, 2022. You can already register for the beta.
