The hardcore shooter Escape from Tarkov is known for its realistic gameplay and the associated difficulty level. With its mix of PvEvP within a raid, the title from Battlestate Games has established its own genre term over the past few years: EFT-Like. Now, the challenging shooter has announced a new and standalone project in an action-packed teaser.
What kind of game is this? The new standalone “Escape from Tarkov” game will feature arena battles and be called Escape from Tarkov Arena.
Just like Escape from Tarkov (abbreviated: EFT), the arena project will also rely on the well-known and popular hardcore gameplay mechanics. Furthermore, the game is set to offer various PvE and PvP modes as well as weapon and equipment unlocks, taking place in different arenas within the city of Tarkov.
In the teaser, you can see battles reminiscent of a classic team deathmatch mode. In the scene shown at minute 00:42, you also see five fighters waiting for the start of a match. This suggests a 5v5 mode in Escape from Tarkov Arena.
Is the EFT Arena part of the current Escape from Tarkov? EFT Arena will be available as a free DLC for owners of the “Edge of Darkness” version of Escape from Tarkov – the most expensive version of the shooter. Owners of all other versions of the hardcore shooter will have to purchase EFT Arena.
Battlestate Games also announced that EFT Arena can be purchased separately and that owning Escape from Tarkov is not necessary. If you only want to play the arena shooter, you can acquire it without needing to possess the main game.
When will EFT Arena be playable? Battlestate Games has not disclosed an exact release date for EFT Arena. However, a closed beta test is expected to begin in the fall of 2022.
