The first trailer of an upcoming film from ‘Super Mario’ has been released. Check out what the film has to offer here.
If you ask who the most famous protagonist in video games is, besides ‘Pac-Man’, the guy with the big red ‘M’ on his cap – Mario – comes up pretty quickly. For several decades, the plumber has been hopping across the screens of many generations in countless video games. There have been plans to release a movie or series from time to time, but one could probably describe them all as ‘somewhat successful’.
Now, completely unexpectedly, a new trailer has been released, making it clear: ‘Super Mario Bros.’ is getting its own movie.
What is the movie about? As the first teaser already reveals, it seems that they have adapted the most classic of all Mario stories. The King of the Koopas, Bowser, invades different kingdoms with his flying fortress and conquers them. Bowser apparently craves the power of the stars, which you have to collect in so many Mario games. They always possess a special kind of magic.
Because evil giant turtles that can spit fire obviously cannot just go about their misdeeds, someone needs to help – and that is Mario, who ends up in the Mushroom Kingdom through a pipe. There, he directly meets Toad and sets off with him towards the castle – and it would be very surprising if Peach were not waiting for him with a big problem or if she had already been kidnapped.
That the humor takes center stage and that the classic Mario story ‘The evil Bowser wants all the stars’ is an important component is more than clear from the first trailer.
It’s also interesting that Nintendo seems to be going completely with CGI – this was not the case with other Mario adaptations in the past.
Anyone who fears that Luigi does not appear in the film is mistaken – because Mario’s brother also shows up, in the best ‘Luigi’s Mansion’ manner, being chased by countless skeletal Koopas.
When is the release of the Mario movie? According to the plan, it should be in April 2023. The current expectation is for a start date around April 6th/7th.
