What kind of shot is this? The “Power Shot” in FIFA 23 is a new feature that expands your options for scoring goals. It is an extremely powerful shot that ideally gives the opposing goalkeeper no chance of saving the ball.

This is how the Power Shot works in FIFA 23: Get your player into shooting position and press the shoulder buttons and the shoot button.
- On the PlayStation controller, it is L1 + R1 + Circle (default setting)
- On the Xbox controller, it is LB + RB + B (default setting)
Long-time players will see that this is the old low shot combination. The low shot is now performed by simply tapping the Circle/B button.

What do you need to consider when using the Power Shot? The Power Shot is a risky but rewarding shooting technique: It can yield a lot, but also requires some prerequisites.
The Power Shot animation is slow: Your player winds up for a long time and takes a few moments to take the shot. During that time, opponents can easily intervene. Moreover, the animation also reveals your intention through a small zoom effect. While it looks cool, your opponent can see what you plan to do.
So, get into a good shooting position with distance from the opponent when you want to use the Power Shot. Do not try to continually fire the Power Shot – especially in tight penalty area situations, fast regular shots are more likely to succeed.
You need to aim precisely: The second difficulty of the Power Shot has little to do with the opponent. You need to aim precisely when you take the shot. Accordingly, the stick must point exactly in the direction you want to shoot – otherwise, the ball will go elsewhere. This is not easy when the opponent is closing in on you with their defenders.
Another aspect is the power behind the shot. The long animation tempts you to hold the shoot button too long and “charge” the shot – but then it can happen that you send the ball soaring instead of into the net. Here you need to find the right balance.
When is the best time to use the Power Shot? It is not possible to say this definitively yet, but in our tests we had the most success, especially with shots from the edge of the penalty area.
From greater distances, the shot can also score, but the opposing keeper can also intervene better.
How do I practice the Power Shot? You can of course practice the Power Shot in games. A few rounds in the training arena are a good idea to get a feel for the shot.
Power Shot Zoom in FIFA 23 annoying? You can turn it off
This is what you can do: If the zoom bothers you during the Power Shot, you can disable it in the settings. Just go to the game settings and then to the “Camera” section. There you will find at the bottom the “Power Shot Zoom” setting, which you can set to “Off”.
