Once upon a time, e-sports were a ridiculed phenomenon. A few years later, it became the subject with the greatest potential. Now, negative headlines dominate the reporting. What happened and how did it come to this? What does the future hold for professional gaming?
Recently, there have been reports about organizations withdrawing from e-sports, professionals being embroiled in scandals, or expensive teams failing miserably. Anyone who takes a quick glance at the news might think that e-sports are dying.
The organization behind it also appears to be somewhat aimless and helpless. The Overwatch League is a failed experiment, and only a few titles remain in the sector. We want to take a closer look at the subject.
