On August 23, Destiny 2 provided a first glimpse of the new expansion “Lightfall”. The trailer shows a futuristic environment – and a practical energy lasso.
This is what the trailer shows: We see a futuristic and colorful city named “Neomuna”, with energy palms and skyscrapers reaching high into the sky. This will be the new location of the Lightfall DLC.
But the streets are in the midst of a war, there is no talk of idyll. The Shadow Legion and Guardians are in the thick of the fight. The Witness, Calus, and other enemies can be seen in the trailer.
We witness a chase – and see for the first time the new, practical ability for your Guardians.
New ability “Strand” creates energy weapons and a grappling hook
This is “Strand”: The new “Strand” ability apparently comes from the new race “Cloudstrider” and will be a new class of Darkness in Destiny 2. It provides Guardians with a new level of movement, as it creates a kind of energy lasso that you can use not only for combat but also for quick movements.
Among other things, it allows you to swing through space like Spider-Man. It functions effectively like grappling hooks, which you can latch onto all points of the game world, pull yourself close, or swing.
The psychic energy strands have even more to offer.
They can hold your enemies in the air or be transformed into new weapons, such as claws. They can also be fired as “Strand rockets”.
It all depends on which class you are using. The Hunter, for example, turns the Strand into a hook lasso that pulls enemies towards him to attack – it looks like something out of Mortal Kombat.
Aside from the Strand ability, a lot of new features for Destiny 2 were introduced. You can find the exact overview in the ticker for the big Destiny 2 showcase.
