Dead by Daylight and Attack on Titan is a crazy combo that fits together much better than expected. See here how good it looks in the game.
Several weeks ago, Dead by Daylight announced that there will be a pretty crazy collaboration. The creators of the horror game have teamed up with one of the most popular anime series of our time: Attack on Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin).
The result is a pretty rich selection of skins that are now available in Dead by Daylight.
What is Dead by Daylight? In Dead by Daylight, a killer hunts four survivors across a map. The survivors try to repair generators and evade the killer while the killer wants to kill all survivors. It is a “cat and mouse” game where both sides can be played. Characters can be customized through cosmetic adjustments, and playstyles can be influenced by perks and items.
What is Attack on Titan about? The theme of Attack on Titan is not that far from Dead by Daylight. Humanity is trapped in a small kingdom protected by massive walls. The reason for this is the Titans, huge humanoid flesh giants that apparently love nothing more than to eat humans.
Even though the anime is initially more aligned with the action genre, it transforms over the seasons, gaining horror elements and building a huge political power play where good and evil frequently change sides.
Does it even fit together? Some criticize that the style of Attack on Titan fits poorly into Dead by Daylight. An “anime look” ruins the horror experience for some. The idea behind the skins is that the original Dead by Daylight characters would look like this if they had to portray their counterparts from Attack on Titan in a cosplay.
If you can’t exactly identify the characters, here’s a little help:
- Dwight Fairfield is Eren.
- Yui Kimura is Mikasa.
- Felix Richter is Armin.
- Meg Thomas is Annie.
- Zarina Kassir is Hange.
- Jake Park is Levi.
- Kate Denson is Historia.
- Ace Visconti is Kenny.
- The Oni is the “Armored Titan”.
- The Wraith is the “War Hammer Titan”.
The reactions to the skins are mostly positive, especially the killers have received praise. Because the Titans are just as creepy in the anime as they are in Dead by Daylight.
How to get the skins? The skins are part of the premium skins in Dead by Daylight, meaning you can only unlock them directly with real money. A complete skin for survivors costs about 10 euros, while a complete skin for killers costs nearly 15 euros – if you want all 10 skins, you should prepare for a hefty price.
Is more coming? It is noticeable that Dead by Daylight has also revamped the lobby for the first time in such a collaboration. You can now see the characters sitting around the campfire while in the background the “Wings of Freedom” banner flutters on a flag and the destroyed wall from the anime series can be seen. Some hope that so many assets are an indication that an Attack on Titan-inspired map could come into the game – but so far this is just speculation.
What do you think of these skins? Do you find them too wacky or simply genius?
