OGame is a browser MMO by Gameforge, a gaming company based in Karlsruhe. The game has been around for almost 20 years and has now launched a huge expansion: Lifeforms Expansion with a total of 4 races. MeinMMO shows you the update trailer and gives a brief overview of the innovations.
The new expansion of OGame is online. From now on, you can choose new races in the game that come with individual advantages and disadvantages and also have their own buildings and research. Here is a brief overview of the races:
- Humans
As in so many sci-fi universes, humans are a good average – few significant advantages meet few disadvantages. At the beginning of the expansion, you can only choose humans and must unlock/discover the other races if you want to play them.
- Rock’tal
This race lives on planets with extreme conditions but feels quite comfortable here due to their hard shell – they appear to be partly made of stone.
Accordingly, they are perfect as miners, come with increased loading capacity for their ships, and support the class bonuses of the Collector. However, the population grows slower and little food is produced.
- Mechas
A military AI race without an emotional component. They are the perfect conquerors and are feared in the galaxy. They can reproduce faster than organic life forms, build fleets faster, and have strong weapon systems.
- Kaelesh
A curious people with a strong urge to explore. In the fields of research and discovery, the Kaelesh have the upper hand, leading to missions being completed faster and expedition fleets being less likely to be lost. They also require little food and enhance the class bonuses of the Explorer.
- More Info
A total of 48 new buildings will be added to OGame – it’s 12 per race. Additionally, there are 72 new technologies to research, which the races share: this time 18 per race.
Moreover, there are 2 completely new resources in the game: life forms and food. This allows other races to settle on your planets to gain access to the technologies and traits of the new races.
By the way, OGame is also available on smartphone now.
We would be very interested to know if we still have one or the other OGamer in our community. Please let us know in the comments how long you have been playing and what continues to fascinate you about OGame.
