Recently, there were leaks about the new shooter Deadlock from Valve. Players are now discussing the official designation Hero-Shooter on Reddit and believe it’s actually something quite different.
What game are we talking about? Deadlock is a new game from Valve that is supposed to be released on Steam. It is an announced hero shooter, which, according to rumors, is supposed to already be in alpha.

What does the community say? On Reddit, a user opened their post with an image of Deadlock and the statement that it is a hero shooter. However, this is discussed in the comments by other users.
Deadlock is officially a hero shooter, meaning it is compared to games like Overwatch. Many users, however, do not see this comparison and classification as a hero shooter. A first comment asks: “Is ‘Hero-Shooter’ really the right term for it? After all the stuff that has leaked […] isn’t it more of a MOBA shooter?”.
A mix of DOTA and shooters?
Many agree with this question and are already comparing Deadlock to other games, such as Battleborn, Smite, or DOTA 2. The difference with DOTA 2 is simply that it is a third-person shooter, as one user claims. The comparison to DOTA comes up actually more than once. One user even gives the game the new name “Shoota,” thus a mix of DOTA and shooter.
With which game they are now also comparing Deadlock, most agree that the shooter rather appears to be a MOBA shooter. “This game is a hero shooter in the same way that League or DOTA are arena fighters. This game is a MOBA,” it says in a comment.
How similar Deadlock will ultimately be to Overwatch, or whether the comparisons from the community make more sense, will likely only become clear when we receive official information about the shooter.
