In the survival hit Valheim, a trick helps you better protect your most important items and save a lot of space. MeinMMO shows you how it works.
What kind of trick is this? The tip comes from the subreddit for Valheim and is from redditUserError404. This useful trick allows you to easily hide your workbench, its upgrades, and other important items in your house.
Here’s how it works: To protect your workbench and its upgrades from attacks, you first need to dig a hole in your house. You then place everything you want to protect there.
This is what it looks like:

Why is this useful? Enemies can attack your base and destroy items. Usually, you set things up like workbenches either outside or unprotected in the house.
If you use a hole, you can simply lay floors over the opening, essentially creating a kind of hidden cellar or trapdoor. Possible attackers can’t get in there. You can hide everything you want to protect down there. When you need to access your stuff, you just remove the floor again, and when you’re done, you cover the hole back up.
If it’s too cumbersome for you to remove the floor every time you need to access your workbench, you can also simply build it in the house and place the upgrades underground. However, keep in mind that they need to be close enough to your workbench, ideally almost directly beneath it.

Can you dig infinitely deep? No. There is a kind of water limit. If you dig too deep, you will hit this water and need to dig back up a level. However, where this water limit is located varies depending on the region where you build. In mountainous areas, for example, you can dig longer before encountering water.
Is there an alternative to protect my things? You can protect your workbench and other items outside with fences. However, this costs significantly more material.
