At gamescom 2021, the developers of Valheim announced the first major update, Hearth & Home. On September 16, you will finally receive new content. A new trailer in authentic anime style was released for the Opening Night Live.
This is the new trailer: The developers of Valheim have apparently invested in their trailers after the enormous success on Steam. Because the announcement of the Hearth & Home update is a pure, short anime.
A Viking fights against the third boss of Valheim, the dragon mother Moder. After the epic battle, he drags the head back through the snowy mountains, across the stormy sea, and through the dark forest, past some trolls – motifs that players will surely recognize.
The ending shows three Vikings around a table at a feast with mead and various delicacies, as the hunter walks in and presents the prey. This is already a small hint at what is included in the first major update.
Hearth & Home – What’s included in the first major update
What the new update brings: For the most part, Hearth & Home includes innovations for food and the popular building system. While there are no complete patch notes yet, we already know that:
- the food system will be completely overhauled
- new cooking recipes will come to expand the best food in the game – including “Eyescream” and “Shocklate Smoothie”
- new beverages will likely be introduced, as mead is important for buffs
- more building components will be available so that you can build even nicer buildings
In addition, the cooking station will be generally expanded and work is being done on the farming system. Not only the house and yard will receive an overhaul, but also the game’s popular combat system.
Here, especially parries and blocks will function differently than before. Because the efficiency of blocking is influenced by your maximum health (via GameStar.de). The necessary shields will also receive a buff and can turn you into a proper tank (via GameStar.de).
When is Hearth & Home coming? Hearth & Home will be released on September 16 as a free update for Valheim on Steam. This marks the first major update for Valheim since the game has been playable since February.
In recent weeks and months, players have been waiting for new content for quite some time. With Hearth & Home they finally get it, even though many are surely waiting for more bosses or biomes. The next biome is already known:
