The new survival game Valheim has been exciting players on Steam for a good week now. In a very short time, it has gathered many players and exceeded the mark of one million sales.
This is how it is going with Valheim: After the first week in early access, it was apparently time for the development team behind Valheim, Iron Gate, to take a first look back. And it is a positive one:
“This week could go down in history as the fastest, strongest, and largest Viking invasion of all time,” the developers said in a blog post (via Steam). “Valheim has already surpassed the mark of one million sales in the first week of Steam Early Access.”
This has allowed the successful survival game on Steam to reach its first major milestone: “We really want to thank you for the incredible support you’ve already shown us.” They had 160,000 concurrent players at peak and over 127,000 viewers on Twitch, just in the first week.
And this is just the beginning.

This is what the developers say: They are currently processing player feedback and looking for solutions to problems in order to improve the player experience further. In addition, new content is promised:

A few days ago, the team published a roadmap for Valheim, outlining the next steps. It includes points such as a new biome, improved combat and trading, as well as more multiplayer interactions.
What is Valheim anyway? Valheim launched on February 2, 2021, in early access on Steam. It is a survival game where you take on the role of a Viking who seeks to earn the favor of the Norse gods after his death.
It features typical survival mechanics like resource gathering, building construction, and combat. Additionally, you need to explore the world of Valheim to progress in the game. You don’t have to go it alone; you can team up in co-op.
The game also offers various bosses that need to be defeated. These boss fights have particularly impressed MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus.
