A Reddit user just wanted to make a small bargain – and suddenly finds himself with real high-end hardware. For just around 15 euros, his find turns out to be a rare top graphics card.
What exactly did the user find? The Reddit user Open_Advice_1411 reported an unusual find in a second-hand store. Among old electronics, he discovered a graphics card for only 15.49 US dollars (about 15 euros).
The user quickly realized that it could be something special. Nevertheless, he took the card with him without much expectation to test it. (VideoCardz).
In a follow-up post under the contribution, the user ultimately shared that the GPU works flawlessly (via Reddit).
The card is a Radeon RX 6950 XT OC Formula, a particularly rare and powerful model from 2022.
Expensive Special Edition
Why is the graphics card so special? The RX 6950 XT OC Formula is one of the strongest variants of its generation and was specifically designed for enthusiasts. It not only offers very high clock rates out of the box, but also a complex cooling design aimed at maximum performance (ASRock).
The initial price ranged between 1100 and 1400 US dollars, as noted in the corresponding test by TechPowerUp. In Germany, the price remained between 960 and 1300 euros a year after release (heise).
Additionally: This special version from the Taiwanese manufacturer ASRock is significantly rarer than standard models. The exact production numbers of this variant are unclear. It is likely that production was severely limited due to the special specifications. This makes it interesting and high-priced for collectors and hardware fans even today.
OC Formula was ASRock’s top designation for overclocked graphics cards from the Radeon RX 6000 series – for example, the Radeon RX 6900 XT OC Formula. In newer flagship models of the Radeon series, ASRock reverted to the more well-known Taichi branding (VideoCardz & ASRock).
Reddit is a place where spectacular finds often emerge, which users make in thrift stores or during estate clearances. Special bargains and tech rarities are not uncommon: A collector just wanted to save old hardware worth over 11,000 euros, ends up in a police raid
