What exactly happened? The user zThrice asked the community on reddit to “help” him with the appearance of his new gaming PC. The thread shows a picture of his finished system and the sentence: “The first comment decides which trinket or item goes into my new case.”
In a later comment, he also added a few “rules” for the competition:
- It should be easily accessible and purchasable.
- It should also be affordable, as the user does not want to install a diamond in the computer.
- Ideally, the suggestion is white or at least predominantly white so that the ornament matches the interior design.
- Additionally, the item should be legal in the USA.
What is the current status? Meanwhile, the article has received over 7,000 upvotes. As of now (December 8, 2022), there are more than 3,000 comments under the thread. Reddit has now disabled viewing which comment is currently the most upvoted: “This post is in competition mode: Comments are randomly arranged, the number of votes is hidden.”
The “recommendations” for the gaming PC are sometimes more or less recommendable
How does the community “recommend”? The majority of users find the action extremely funny, and accordingly, there are many crazy ideas. A few suggestions, like a good sound card or better fan design, get lost. However, opinions vary widely:
- Some recommend a better setup. A better CPU, more case fans, or even a new CPU.
- Others have suggested he should paste a picture of a popular actor or character like Keanu Reeves or Shrek inside.
- Many others think he should put sex toys in his case and suggest various models.
