A PC modder has installed water cooling in a PS5. Not only does it look really cool, but it actually works too. The modder tested the PS5’s functions. Who among you wouldn’t want such hardware on the living room table?
Here’s what it’s about: The YouTuber Modding Cafe (currently 3,220 subscribers) has presented a PS5 in several videos that he modified with water cooling.
There isn’t much left of the actual console, as besides the water cooling, he also put the modified console in a new case. And the result is quite impressive.
In four videos, he not only shows how he assembles the console but also how he tests it. One of the videos is embedded here for you.
If you haven’t been convinced by the white design of the PS5 so far, you should definitely check out the user’s design. However, we have to disappoint you regarding the size because this PS5 is not much smaller than the original console:

The water cooling was elaborately designed for the PS5
How did the user proceed? First, the YouTuber disassembled the PlayStation 5 into its components with someone else.
Next, he designed a block for the water cooling on the PC that can surround the entire board of the PlayStation. In a further step, he screwed the radiator of the water cooling and the fans. He also sealed the SSD slot.
However, the power supply (PSU) did not make it into the water-cooled PS5. It is connected to the console via cables. This construction makes it look more like a laptop’s power supply. In his video, the modder previously explained that he wants to integrate the power supply into the case in the next version.

How long did the conversion take? The modder does not specify how long he took for the final console. We can only speculate about the amount of time required.
However, he mentions multiple times in his video that he had to design the water cooling himself and also conducted several tests due to the temperatures. This must have taken a lot of time.
What plans does the modder have? Modding Cafe states that this would not be his last water-cooled console. “This is just the first version of a water-cooled PS5, and more versions will follow,” he writes in his video.
Much more interesting is the indication that he also wants to sell his water-cooled console. He writes:
“We are preparing a commercial version and are also working on integrating the water cooling of the PS5 into one of our upcoming PC builds, don’t miss it.
This console, however, is unlikely to be cheap.
New PS5 design looks great – even if it is white and large
The modder stays true to the previous colors of Sony, as his new design is also white.
Why this might bother some: The white design of the console is not to everyone’s liking. Shortly after the reveal of the PS5 design, some people complained that Sony only offers a white design for the PS5. Many wish for at least a black model.
Sideplate manufacturers are trying to meet the needs of interested parties by offering side plates for the PS5 and thereby deliberately provoking Sony. Some have even been successfully sued by Sony.
This is how big the “new” PS5 is: Interested parties who have been dissatisfied with the size of the PS5 so far will likely also be with the new design. Because the modded version is about the same size as Sony’s original version.

The component responsible for the size of the PS5 was indeed removed by the modder, but the water cooling, the radiator, and the ventilation also require a lot of space.
What do you think of the modded PS5? Do you like this creation of his? Or does it not suit your taste? Write in the comments or let us know in this poll what you would wish for a future PS5:
