If you want to fully upgrade your Solstice armor in Destiny 2, you have a lot to do. In this guide, we show you how to complete the tasks in the summer event as quickly as possible.
In Destiny, everything revolves around the Solstice of Heroes for a month. The focus of the event is a special armor set. This armor can be upgraded and enhanced in multiple stages.
However, you also have to work quite hard. MyMMO reveals to you in this guide what tasks await you and how to complete the grind as quickly as possible.
This is how the event armor works: Visit Eva Levante in the Tower, she will initially give you just a helmet. The only task that is important here and that you should complete first is to walk through the European Air Zone (EAZ). Now you will receive a complete Solstice set.
Your goal during the event is to continuously upgrade the armor. This way, the armor’s rarity increases, it gets better stats, and also changes visually.
This happens in three stages:
- First, you will receive the Renewed set
- Subsequently, you will have access to the Majestic set
- The Magnificent set will be your final reward
From the Majestic set on, you can purchase universal armor ornaments with elemental glow effects in the Eververse. This costs 6,000 Glimmer (earned currency) or 1,500 Silver (real money currency).
If you complete the hardest challenges and level the armor to the Magnificent set, you will automatically receive a white glow effect.
Bungie has actually listened to your criticism from previous years and has overhauled the reward system during the Solstice 2020.
You have this much time: The summer event has been running since the reset on August 11 and ends on September 8. Until then, you have time to upgrade your armor to the Majestic level (legendary – purple).
To unlock the Magnificent set, you also have time beyond the event’s end. So you don’t need to rush with the hardest tasks.
By the way, the grind goes significantly faster with your second and third character.
Do you only get one piece of armor? No! If you’re looking for gear with high status values, you can get random rolls from the boxes. The chance for armor increases significantly after completing the upgrade – this way you get armors with up to 65 values that are relevant for a year.
If you meditate at the statue of heroes, your initial armor’s status values will also improve (to about 60). This is made possible by making progress in the quest for the armor.
Here you can read how to quickly find all loot chests in the European Air Zone, giving you more chances at random armor pieces:
What you need to do to level up the Solstice armor
The tasks for the 3 armor sets are almost identical for all classes. The only difference may be that a Hunter needs Arc kills, while the Titan needs Solar kills.
Once you have completed all the tasks for one set, return to the Tower and you will receive the next armor set.

To receive the final stage of the Solstice armor, you must delve into the endgame of Destiny 2. For many tasks, you will even need teammates.
6 Tips for the Solstice of Heroes 2020 in Destiny 2
Forgot what you need to do? You can inspect your piece of equipment. Right below the name – just above the elemental display – are the tasks. If you navigate in the menu over a Solstice armor piece, you can see the counter for the current task.
Find a fireteam: Ideally, you set out with the same class. This way, you all have the same tasks and elements – If your friends list is on summer vacation, you can also quickly find helpful Guardians through LFG tools. In the official companion app, there is currently a lively search for teammates.
This task should be addressed first: Start with the most grind-heavy tasks first. On the way there, you will complete many other smaller tasks. Whenever you see “complete 10 Gambit matches” or “finish 5 Strikes”, you know what’s next.
Combine tasks and elemental weapons with your focus. If you think about matching combos before an activity, you can significantly shorten the grind.
Do I always have to wear the complete set? No! You only need to equip the armor piece for which you currently want to complete tasks. You can also level the pieces separately and tackle them one by one.
However, it is important that progress only counts if you are wearing the corresponding armor piece. If you’re unsure or lose track, it’s best to wear the entire set.
How to quickly collect elemental kills: 2,000 elemental kills are quite a lot. Use hardly any of your kinetic weapon. Use primary weapons with elemental damage or, for example, LMGs with the appropriate element. In the Crucible, every elemental kill actually counts as five.
- The playlist Momentum Control is particularly suitable for PvP. Here all weapons are much more lethal, and you can quickly achieve kills, even if you are not a Crucible expert.
- In PvE, it has been found that the Dreaming City offers two very good opportunities for upgrades: Destiny 2: Use these 2 farm spots to improve your Solstice armor
If you are looking for more farm spots in PvE, you can find them here:
How to find adventures: If you are looking for Heroic adventures, then visit the Flashpoint location. From August 11 to August 18, this is Mercury. Unfortunately, the adventures here are very long missions. On Mars and in the EDZ, you will find significantly shorter missions.
We will update this article with more tips and tricks throughout the Solstice 2020.
