Sony has released a new firmware update for the PlayStation 4. It comes just a week after patch 7.01. We reveal what’s inside.
What does update 7.02 bring? The new update for the PS4 contains only a brief set of patch notes:
- This update improves system performance.
Sony does not reveal the exact adjustments to performance.
However, it seems to have been an important patch. On reddit, players report that update 7.02 is necessary to play online with the PS4.
Additionally, some players report noticeable performance improvements. User GanjaTea writes:
- “Right now I’m playing CoD: Black Ops 3 and I feel changes. None major, but it feels better.”
How big is update 7.02? The update is 447.9 MB. Therefore, it should not pose too big an obstacle before you can play online with the PS4 again.
What can I do if the update crashes? If the download causes issues or crashes, you can also manually download it via the official PlayStation website.
Many PS4 updates in a short time
What’s currently happening with the PS4? There have been several updates and innovations for the PS4 in recent weeks, even though the new PS5 is coming next year.
In October, the major update 7.0 for the PlayStation 4 was released. This brought:
- An increase of the party size from 8 to 16 users.
- No more restarts after small system updates.
- New HDR options.
- Remote Play for Android.
The update was followed by patch 7.01, which was released on December 11. However, it contained the same patch notes as the latest update 7.02.
New buttons for the PS4 controller: Another update affects the DualShock 4 controller. This will receive new back buttons that you can even program freely.
This particularly pleases shooter players who have not yet bought an expensive pro controller. They can use the buttons without moving their finger away from the right stick.
