With Season 6 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone come a few new weapons to the game: the assault rifle AS VAL and the DMR SP-R 208. Find out here how to unlock them.
What kind of weapons are these? Just like with the last 5 Battle Passes, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone also with Season 6 get fresh, new rifles:
- AS VAL: Soviet assault rifle from the late 80s – has built-in silencers in all barrels
- SP-R 208: The DMR resembles the American bolt-action rifle Remington 700
With this, the 13th assault rifle comes to the current CoD. This could be particularly exciting for Warzone, as most assault rifles offer wide versatility and “all-round weapons” are particularly in demand in the Battle Royale. Find out here how to get them.
Battle Pass Season 6 brings 2 new weapons to CoD
How do I get the guns? You can unlock the new rifles through the Season 6 Battle Pass. They are part of the free rewards branch, and even if you don’t purchase the Battle Pass for 1,000 CoD points, you will receive the items once you complete the respective level:
- DMR Foxtrot – SP-R 208 at level 15
- Assault rifle Mike – AS VAL at level 31
Once you have completed the specified level, you can use the weapons for your arsenal. You should plan 45 – 60 minutes of playtime for one level of the Battle Pass. Whether the Pass is worth it for you can be read here:
Can I get them faster? If you want the weapons without starting the big Battle Pass grind, you basically have 3 options:
- Play during the next double XP event
- Buy a bundle for CoD points in the shop
- Skip Battle Pass tiers with so-called Tier Skips
With a double XP event, you only need half the normal time, as you earn double the points for the Battle Pass. Pay attention during the events that “Battle Pass Tiers” are really doubled. Sometimes there is only double weapon or account XP.
You can also purchase a paid bundle with the weapon in the shop. Select the gun in the weapon selection, and to the right of the field with the weapon, another field opens that says “Shop”. If you click on it, you will come to a bundle that contains the weapon. However, you only get the weapon configuration from the bundle – you cannot freely equip the weapon with attachments.
For the third option, you would need to shell out a hefty chunk of cash. Using “Tier Skips,” you could unlock the entire Battle Pass immediately. This would cost 15,000 CoD points, which, depending on the points package, is up to 150,- €. For the weapons, you need:
- SP-R 208 – 2,250 CoD points for 15 tiers (just over 20,- €)
- AS VAL – 4,650 CoD points for 31 tiers (between 40,- & 50,- €)
Are the guns worth it?
It’s still too early to say where the two new rifles will rank. The patch notes from update 1.27 are still hot.
However, after an initial round in a private game, it is noticeable that the AS VAL feels more like an SMG, with a high rate of fire and vertical recoil upwards. For Warzone, this piece may be less exciting, as the magazine only holds a maximum of 30 rounds, which is somewhat too small for Battle Royale. Perhaps an interesting small 10-round magazine will increase penetration and change the fire mode to semi-automatic.
The DMR SP-R 208 looks at first glance like a mix between the Kar 98k and the MK2 Carbine. The shots feel more powerful than the carbine, but not as penetrating as the Kar. Moreover, the SP-R offers a colorful selection of attachments, which should make it suitable for different applications.
Judging by first impressions, the two new guns are not necessarily among the best weapons in Warzone. But how they will actually perform will only become apparent in the coming days. Until then, MeinMMO wishes you a cheerful “Battle Pass” leveling.
